Age of Empires IV Content Editor

Uber bad implementation. Takes 25 minutes to set up 3 simple items. You could create a whole map in the same time in AoE2. When you create a content editor, you try to make it accessible even to non-employees. If I have to have professional experience with your tool to simply set up a custom map, forget it. By the way, I was just trying to pit small groups of different unit types against each other to test damage numbers, on a completely empty map. There it no simpler creation than this. This would take me 4 minutes max in AoE 2 map editor, back from the distant year of 1998. Well done !

Not user friendly but it wasn't really a problem for me. Created a custom map using a height map. Had Claude pull and generate a heightmap of a real location and then had it walk me through the rest of the process. Not as hard as everyone is making it out to be. Highly suggest using AI to walk you through the process instead of referencing official documentation and many different forum posts.

Very not user friendly. The map editor is the worst of the four AoE games. Landscaping is tedious and it's mostly based on generative inputs. Just play with what you have.

I see what they are trying to do with this, but it is a pathetic example of what AoE used to be. One of the great parts of the game is the ability to make maps and scenarios with the game. They super dropped the ball. I cannot even load the dang editor. It is horribly optimized. You could have made an in-game editor like ALL of the other games, but you wanted to be different. AoE3 worked just fine having mods and a map editor with no other tool. If you were going to release in beta, you should've just done it later. I can run dang near every game you van think of, but this editor is the one that breaks it. Please fix it quickly. Can only play your game so much before I go onto something else. AoE has added replayability with scenario changes. I cannot make those changes due to your program wanting to drown my PC in garbage.

It would be hard to devise a WORSE development tool for an RTS. It's an embarrassment to the entire series.

This is genuinely an awful take on Custom Map creation/editing - especially when compared to the previous AoE Map Creators/Editors. I understand AoE4 is somewhat more complex in it's design by comparison, but this is such a nightmare to understand unless you have knowledge in these kinds of advanced programs. I also found right off the bat that it didn't work all too well when it came to generating the map via the Intermediate generator. I used to have so much fun creating maps in the previous AoE games; this makes it extremely painful.
