The browser extension

The “playze.io — game price overlay” extension for Chrome and Edge shows our best price for the game you are viewing on a supported game store, and has an optional deal assistant in its toolbar popup. It has no account and no settings.

What it collects

• On a game page of a supported store (Steam and the other stores listed on our extension page): the game’s title as shown on that page — on Steam, the app ID from the address instead. On any other page it reads nothing and sends nothing.
• In the deal assistant, only if you use it: the message you type.
• Nothing else: no personal or sensitive information, no browsing history, no form contents, passwords or payment data, no cookies, no identifiers, no analytics. It does not load or run remote code.

How it is used

The title or app ID is sent to the playze.io API only to look up that game’s best price, discount, deal score, lowest tracked price and Game Pass status, which the card then shows. Your assistant message is used only to find the deals it asks about and write the reply.

How it is handled and stored

Everything is sent over HTTPS to playze.io. We do not store the titles, app IDs or assistant messages in any database, and nothing is linked to you. Like every website, our web server keeps a short access log of requests (time, address requested — which includes the title or app ID — your IP address and browser type) for security and troubleshooting; it is size-capped and overwritten automatically, usually within hours to a few days, and is never used to profile anyone.

Who it is shared with

• Assistant messages are sent to Anthropic, the provider of the AI model that writes the reply. Anthropic processes them under its API terms, which do not allow it to train its models on them, and keeps them only for a limited period.
• If you click through to a store, that store (and, for affiliate links, the affiliate network) learns that the visit came from playze.io, as with any link.
• We do not sell extension data or share it with anyone else, for any purpose.

Uninstalling the extension stops all of the above immediately.

The website

You can browse playze.io without an account. If you choose to create an account or sign in with Steam, we store the minimum needed to provide the service — such as your email address or Steam ID and your saved games (wishlist / “my list”). We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a cookie that remembers which price region you selected so prices stay in your currency between visits. Neither is used to track you.

We measure how the site is used with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless: it sets nothing on your device, assigns you no identifier, and cannot follow you to other sites. It reports only aggregate figures — which pages were viewed, which sites linked to them, and how quickly pages loaded. Cloudflare already serves every request to playze.io as our CDN; no additional company receives your data, and none of it is sold.

We also keep our own daily visitor count, so we can see which sites and AI assistants send people here. When a page loads, your browser tells our server which page it was and — on the first page only — which site linked to it. No cookie is set and your IP address is not stored: it is combined with your browser's user-agent into a code that changes every day, so a visit today cannot be linked to a visit tomorrow or traced back to you. We also record the country Cloudflare reports for the request. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is recorded at all.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links to stores are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them. This never changes the price you pay and does not affect how prices are ranked.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to providing price comparison. The one exception to “it stays with us” is the AI features: what you type into the deal assistant or the AI search (on the site or in the extension) is sent to Anthropic to generate the answer, as described above. Prices are sourced from public store and third-party pricing APIs.
