About Himegashima Island
Under the pretense of receiving training to become the head of the Kinusato family, Kokomi is sent to stay with his relatives on Himegashima. However, his cousin Asuka demands that he enjoy his summer on the island and make lots of happy memories. Having grown up sheltered, there's a whole new world of things for Kokomi to experience. The hot midsummer sun and the cries of cicadas everywhere... The gentle waves crashing against the shore and the bustle of restaurants on a busy night... Kokomi will experience all Himegashima has to offer and more during his short time there.
Explore the gorgeous island of Himegashima and earn Good Boy Points to unlock new privileges by helping its residents. Whether it be unlocking new locations such as a hair-raising swamp or getting to hang out with your friends, no good deed goes unrewarded! Of course, it wouldn't be much of a summer without plenty of outdoor activities to participate in. Collect fish and insects to fill out your field guides, then use those insects in heated bug-fighting matches! Just be forewarned, there's quite a bit more depth and complexity to raising the perfect warrior than meets the eye. You'll have to manage your bonds with your bugs, acquire and combine bug skills to give you an edge in battle, and even let bugs past their prime go in order to transfer some of their power to your future champions. If this all sounds daunting, don't worry! A quick trip to Kakeru Dojo will teach you all the ins and outs of bug fighting and have you raising an undefeatable army in no time!
As if that isn't exciting enough on its own, these are but a select few of the many activities Himegashima has to offer! Create as many memories as you can and do everything in your power to make this the best summer ever!
Minigames
Enjoy various minigames such as rock paper scissors, treasure hunting, fishing, and bug fighting. There are even some games you might not be too familiar with such as yubisuma, where you try to guess the number of thumbs everyone is holding up. Enjoy a summer chock-full of new and exciting experiences!
Secret Base
Collect furniture and decorate your secret base, then invite your friends over to take a look. Different people have different preferences, and how you arrange your base will affect the score they give you. Just don't despair if you get a scathing evaluation. There's always next time!
Rich Story
Enjoy a character-driven story and help the people of Himegashima overcome their problems, whether they be human or... something else? Meet a talking jizou statue, a visitor from another world, and many other colorful characters as you work to leave your mark on the island!

An oddly wholesome slice-of-life game about a small island town and the people who live there. Every character in this game has their own character arc (even side-characters), their relationships with each other grow and change over the course of the game. The pacing of the story is good, there are no timers or limited number of days so you can go at your own pace. The bug battling (one of the main mini-games) takes some getting used to, especially early on when it feels a bit more RNG than actual stat based. Fishing is straight-forward and is a good way of earning money. And the more good deeds you do the more income you will get. The intimacy, for the most part, is fairly vanilla but organic; everyone enjoys themselves. Eventually you'll get to have sleep overs with several characters once you build up a strong enough relationship with them. Worth full price, don't forget the content restoration patch from the publisher's website.2 found this helpful
This is basically what I expected "Natsu no Sagashimono" to be: a wholesome, laidback and emotionally intriguing summer experience. It's hard for me to translate the pure vibes I've experienced into text on a screen, but the best description I can think of is cozy. That is not to say that the characters are one-note and shallow, they most certainly aren't. The game doesn't treat you like some braindead gooner, instead it respects your time and attention by rewarding you with fleshed out dialogue, layered characters and subtle subtext for the players to pick up on. That said, I can understand the artstyle isn't for everyone, but I thoroughly enjoyed the little animation details. Many users have also reported bugs, even though I've encountered only 1 crash throughout my entire 24 hour run. Still I'm more than willing to recommend this game because of how it subverted my expectations, definitely worth your time and money.
It has pleasant writing and I liked the character development and story but holy ♥♥♥♥ is it a grind to get through everything and the scenes aren't really that good imo.
I love anime ;)
10/6.5
