Hollow Throne

For $1 [b] Hollow Throne [/b] is a decent roguelite, assuming that you have realistic expectations. Unfortunately, this game is all about high scores and the leaderboard is broken, otherwise this review would be marginally positive. The game can be beaten in about 30 minutes, but it could take you a few hours of practice to do so. There are a several interesting artifacts that can customize your gameplay experience, that could add a lot of replay value if the leaderboard was working. Some people have a very hard time in the beginning, it's actually not that bad as long as you upgrading your health on the first level-up; if you really suck just get the burger item and it will give you massive HP. The environment has 4 stages that show up in any order, but they are not randomly generated. A very fun platformer, that teaches you to learn from your mistakes. With simple yet nice art and charmingly apt music, though perhaps the sound effects are lacking. I like the idea behind item and character progression while the game itself knows what it wants to be and doesn't seem to lose track of its identity..... I certainly recommend the game and anyone who isn't affraid of a very fair challenge should give it a try.

I like almost everything about this game. Great art design. Well designed (controller support works with DS4, rebindable hotkeys ingame. 60fps and 1080p [but no higher]). The mechanics feel pretty good. Jumping, dashing, skills. I get that this is supposed to be hardcore, but enemies are just too damage-spongey. You die way too easily since it takes like 5-6 hits to kill the weakest creatures. Not super fun until maybe they add a difficulty level or just tweak it! Edit: Dev is awesome and released a balance patch! Gonna try it out soon :)
