I recently had the pleasure of playing this game at DreamHack Dallas, and it was an awesome experience. As a fan of turn-based and roguelike/roguelite games, I found it to be the perfect mixture for my tastes. The game excels in creating synergies with different factions, making each run unique and strategically engaging. With a bit of luck, the game can swing between being easy and challenging, keeping the gameplay fresh. One aspect that stood out to me was the art direction and pixel art, which I absolutely loved. The character sprites are well-designed and visually appealing. However, there's one issue that needs addressing: the graphics appear somewhat blurry. While the art itself is fantastic, the descriptions, text, and buttons suffer from this blurriness, which can detract from the overall experience. I didn't notice this issue during the DreamHack demo, possibly because I played on a TV from a few feet away, whereas now I'm much closer to the monitor. This might explain the difference in perception. Despite this minor flaw, the game is a great experience overall, blending strategy and luck in a captivating way. Good game!3 found this helpful
May update with a more in-depth review later: This game has good bones and a lot of interesting mechanics at play. It is one of the longer roguelikes I've played, with both of my runs going to around 3 hours, which can be a pro or a con depending on your corner. Several different factions makes discovering new combos fun and exciting, and there's something very satisfying about making a broken combo, which is often one of the most fun parts about roguelikes. That said there are a few polish issues, such as menuing feeling a bit awkward, a couple of enemy AI 'quirks', and the leader's full scale art being very compressed when you get a quote from them between matches. However I don't think there's anything so far which can't be easily fixed with a an update or two that might come sometime in the near future. Bias disclaimer: I know the developer, and was gifted a key, so this might have skewed my perception of the game, though I tried to be objective about my thoughts.2 found this helpful
an interesting blend of games from rpgs and rogue likes to create a unique take on a tried and true formula. Adding enough to make it their own. I highly recommend. having a lot of fun with it.1 found this helpful
I got to see this game in action at DH Dallas in June of 2024 and was hooked instantly. That being said, this has good bones, but needs a LOT of polish. - Only 1080p graphics - Graphics look less polished than they did at Dreamhack1 found this helpful
(Has a bug where it is now unplayable, crashing upon opening a recruit and pressing refresh, and removing the ability to purchase minions once restarted so you MUST fight without minions) So I'll explain what I liked, then some bugs, then the things I think must be changed. I have way more to say as criticism but it's only to improve the experience and whatever was somewhat annoying was overshadowed by the game being fun. SUMMARY AT THE BOTTOM! What I liked: The beginning was difficult and the characters were all interesting at first. I could tell some characters were made to hard-counter others. Beyond some initial confusion due to my poor ability to understand things I'd say the game was a perfect experience at first and had me playing all the way till this review. The difficulty was what made me immersed since mistakes put you in danger of failure, and I love this sort of feeling because it's a thrill to fight for your life through budgeting, planning, and caution and still fail (if you just make bad decisions). Bugs: After the first few hours, the game will crash every 40 seconds if you are not in combat. Wasn't that bad since it's easy to get invested in the game becaus…
