You find yourself in a mansion looking for an invaluable item with the aid of the KeyKeeper and meet some very interesting and strange characters along the way.
The Gameplay
Save at all the choice points to reload and go back easily to get some achievements. When you first enter the game you are faced with a mysterious red door. After hearing some voices (well reading some mysterious voices) you enter the door. You find yourself in the entryway of what appears to be a mansion with two sprawling staircases on either side. The novel has interactive elements to it (point and click) that you engage with at certain points in the story as well as several mini games, some which were interesting and some I found more frustrating. The mini games, mainly the one where you mimic the dance pattern, need to be able to be skipped. Mini games and puzzles in visual novels should never stop the progression of the story if a person is unable to complete it. It took me a while to get through that mini game and left me feeling frustrated. There's a lot of emotion in this story and plenty to think about afterward. Honestly, I think I need to replay it because the ending kinda melted my brain, I can't even put into words how I feel right now. The game constantly drops hints about what's really going on, because the other characters clearly know everything, while you and the protagonist are just kinda tossed into this mess with zero context. Your only goal is to push forward and find something incredibly important, except you have no idea what it is, who you are, or why you’re even here, but yeah. And there's really a lot going on here. Every chapter, every room - everything's so different that you have no idea what's coming next or what you and the main character will have to deal with this time. Sometimes it's calm and peaceful, right, but only sometimes. Don't wanna spoil anything. The second main character, Keykeeper, kinda annoyed me at first, but I love how the story explored her character more, especially after the third chapter. The same goes for Snitcher. Honestly, most of the characters are fantastic. They might actually be one of my favorite parts of the game. Oh, and I kept spotting references, now I’m …6 found this helpful
A very touching, but also dark story about changes and guilt. It's hard to describe it, without spoiling too much of the story, but you will recognize right at the start, what an awful person the main hero is. Unlike most visual-novel games in Steam, the cat-character doesn't just stand still while speaking: she does move her paws while talking. Then you will find some smaller riddles and mini-games as well in that game. Unforuntately this artwork here didn't get much attention yet, therefore there's missing a guide. If you don't mind sad topics and even creepy events, then I can highly recommend this psychological-horror novel. The story's awesome and the graphics are very well made, too.3 found this helpful
