Players appreciate the quirky and creative core gameplay concept, with the zip-lining and climbing mechanics feeling engaging once understood. However, the game suffers from significant issues including the complete absence of a tutorial or instructions that leaves new players confused, a very steep learning curve, limited content with only 15 levels, and various bugs that make timing-sensitive sections frustrating. While some find it fun despite these drawbacks, most feel the game needs better onboarding and more polish to justify its asking price.
Game is definitely fun but a little buggy and challenging in many ways like fast route switching, getting right timings and etc. Game itself have only 15 levels and is not easy as it looks like at first look after starting the game you feel a little confused because there is no tutorial or any instructions but it's easy enough to figure it out in few minutes- there is only 2 buttons you can press - Your climb/grip button and B(for Quest 2 at least)for triggering a laser for menu interaction Also you can use thumbstick to move like in any fps and snap turns but only if you turn them on in settings4 found this helpful
Cool quirky gameplay, really liked the idea and how the game feels overall3 found this helpful
'Surflexers' is a rail-line obstacle course style game in which you will be zip-lining along some poles with your sticks or climbing about on the other little floating platforms. While it might sound like a fun idea for a game it is anything but. The first biggest issue is the lack of ANY instructions. You are supposed to just know what to do and how to do it. It looks me a while to work out how to jump across to things, let alone get any further into the game as the learning curve is ridiculous! The first level at least should have been all rails and maybe a little bit of jumping and besides there only seems to be one level! Let's face it. I was never going to be coming into this review telling you how the game is worth the money, but it could at least have been fun and it sadly fails at that. This game will never be worth the current £9.29 asking price and to be honest, it really should have been free. But even if it was free I would still not be recommending it until some of the main issues are sorted out. Do check out my gameplay video, but I really didn't get far at all as being in a wheelchair made it too difficult to play - https://youtu.be/AdvRLMM-4N41 found this helpful
