About The Chaser's Voyage

You have only one hundred days. One hundred days to pay off your debt to a dreaded pirate lord. Luckily, you have friends, and one of those friends has a spaceship… and an idea: make money by transporting people from planet to planet! Seems simple, but this part of the galaxy is riddled with endless dangers. Paying back your debt will be one thing. Surviving this voyage will be another!

You are the Captain:

  • Take-off on your space flight adventure with a fully voice-acted, diverse crew of oddballs and misfits.
  • Take the helm of the starship Chaser and strategically divert limited power between its four systems in real time.
  • Pilot through treacherous interstellar obstacles such as asteroids, minefields, radiation storms, ship graveyards, and more!
  • Escape from deadly foes including ruthless pirates, relentless bounty hunters, and warring galactic armies.
  • Fly through over 500 combinations of obstacles and encounters!

Pay Back Your Debt:

  • Earn money by transporting a large variety of human and alien clients to other planets.
  • Survive randomly generated encounters as you travel to your client’s destination.
  • Be careful! Repairing your hull costs money. The better your piloting, the more likely you are to survive and pay off your debt in time.

Fly Through a Small Part of a Larger Galaxy:

  • Witness an escalating galactic war, as two major powers fight for control of the sector.
  • Visit over 250 planets and meet the species that inhabit them.
  • Unlock entries in your crew journal containing history, politics, and stories of the galaxy.
  • Learn about your crew’s pasts and discover their secrets.

Additional Features:

  • Fly through the galaxy accompanied by an epic soundtrack.
  • Deck out the Chaser your way with colors that reflect your style.
  • Equip over 20 insignias that let you change the Chaser’s capabilities, take on new challenges, or fly as a member of different factions.
  • See yourself improve as a pilot with high score records.
  • Practice your skills by recreating any scenario in the Flight Simulator.

Full disclosure: one of the devs is a friend of mine. If you're a fan of roguelikes, time and resource management and space, you'll love this game. Randomized encounters and environmental effects like pirates, asteroids and solar flares mean you have to decide where best to allocate your limited power, sometimes on the fly. There's three difficulty settings and the "easy" setting is incredibly forgiving for those struggling. I spent at least three continues after getting pulverized by a fleet battle! The devs are constantly working on improving the game as well as adding more things like character backstories. The game is as challenging as you want it to be. The writing for the story is excellent and all the characters have distinct, colorful personalities, from the lowly pirate to your friends and crewmates. This is an excellent game that I highly recommend.

This is not a game for me but someone might enjoy it. So who is it for? Chaser's Voyage is a fast paced game that takes some getting used to. You don't always know what you're doing until you've been through it a few times. The rundown is you have 8 total power in your ship and what your ship can do is determined on where you allocate that power and your job is to quickly make the right decisions as you go through a series of levels for a job. Sometimes nothing happens, other times all hell breaks loose. Pay off your debt to a crime lord before a 100 days. WHY THIS WASN'T FOR ME AND WHY IT MAY NOT BE FOR YOU The fast paced nature of the game threw me off quite a bit. It is difficult to say the least to toggle system power while dodging all manner of hazards. Not insurmountable but enough that I found it more annoying and less entertaining. What made it a LOT worse are enemies can shoot these blue lasers at you that will drain more to your systems that you must then reallocate and what finally made me uninstall after such a short time of play was when my passenger wanted to contact the ship shooting me (sometimes they back off if you do). They declined to acquiesce to my request me…

At first glance, the game looks like a run of the mill flash game that you'll play for 30 minutes and be done with it. That thought is the furthest thing from the truth. This game has so much depth and complexity with a vast story and unique characters. The gameplay is challenging with options to make it easier if you want to just experience the story. What I thought was going to be a quick one and done has ended up being (so far) a 2 and a half hour fight for my life! I cannot wait to play more!

Really original sci-fi game with a great setting and lovable characters! Really nice voice acting, too - better than a bunch of AAA games I've played for sure. I think in EA there's a few game balance/tuning issues but they're not a huge deal I'm sure they'll be sorted out by the release. When I first played it I thought it was gonna be way too hard and "pat your belly and rub your head"-ish to control the ship while changing dials and stuff on the HUD, but actually it's very natural for some reason. I look forward to that stuff actually getting more complex in the late game and/or with future development.
