About Bokuten - Why I Became an Angel
After accidentally shooting an angel out of the sky, you—a cynic who doesn't believe in love—are forced to shoulder the angel's mission of helping the couples of the world. While the angel believes that love will always bring happiness, it falls upon you to decide.
The relationships you encounter are never that simple, and the question of what is ultimately best for all involved only grows more complex with each one. So you must decide if each love is truly worth rekindling, and live with the consequences of your decision. What do you believe will lead to the most happiness?

The reviews weren't kidding when they said the writing in this game was crap. All of the sub-plots containing side characters in the common route are completely skippable and you won't miss a thing. Genuinely try skipping all the scenes that don't contain main characters until you hit the branch off point and you will be just as knowledgeable of the plot than as if you had read through it fully. The drama is mostly driven forcefully by utterly nonsensical decision making and the characters directly going against rationality or knowledge of common sense. The main character is the worst attempt at a blank slate I've seen as well, he solely exists to negate whatever anyone around him says and nothing else, he is cynical to the point of annoyance and very one dimensional. All in all, any conflict in this game could be solved by anyone taking a deep breath and using that god given grey matter that resides within their skulls but that is willfully ignored over and over and it feels quite repetitive.2 found this helpful
Recommended. For an "angel" that exposed so much skin and the "depressing game" tag frequently mentioned, the common route is actually quite a heartwarming series of grounded, semi-realistic stories. The true route (the one locked behind the three other characters' route) had the most impressive protagonist growth arc I had ever seen. The supernatural elements were fairly dark, although it did turn quite loony near the end (And to be honest, that whole loony section could probably be cut out without affecting the overall story feeling). The ending of the true route would not be satisfying, as expected. If you have consulted a guide for a suggested route order like me, just know that the first two routes have a quality drop in comparison to the common route, and will lack proper chemistry and payoff. I had problems with the pacing of withheld information in particular. Based on hints in common route Chapter 1 or 2, avid readers should already know the contents of the big reveals dozens of hours later. Although I usually just skip meaningless h-scenes, some of the scenes and not-really-explicit-but-still-censored CGs were necessary to make sense of the common route stories. A game full of highs and lows, with the highs outweighing the lows overall. The premise of this game in the first half is as described in the summary - there are couples with various troubles and you need to decide whether they should (try to) be together or not. These stories are so fresh compared to most VNs, where you play as a protag with a harem of choices, since these are stories about more realistic people and difficult scenarios that could occur in real life. One of these is very challenging to get through, since it deals with sexual abuse, but if this is something you want to skip, there's no harm in just skipping through the whole chapter - these scenarios are very self-contained, and each one does not really build on the previous. Once this section of the game ends, the story turns into the more typical VN setup, where you as the protag have 4 beautiful girls to choose from (the route you get is determined by the number of couples you tried to get together in part 1). These routes range from pretty good to one in particular that I thought was just awful. The high point for me was the route with connections to the music industry, which is not surprising since this …
... Man, why must I be a sucker for sappy stories? All right, important ♥♥♥♥ first. This story contains
a loli bashing the main character over the head with a metal bat before raping him with her sister
to which there is no logical reaction
(idiot even avoids going to the hospital for a life-threatening injury, explicitly to avoid getting police involved)
and for which there is debatably not even any satisfying comeuppance. If that scares you off, I don't blame you. I had to distract myself to get through that scene and several of the following ones without being violently sick. If that doesn't scare you off, the rest of this story is a touching story that makes up for the VN genre's typical pacing issues by asking some genuinely tough questions about love and which sacrifices are acceptable to pursue it, while for the most part refraining from characterizing any answer to them as definitively good or bad. Its premise and the plot twists that stem from it are also delightfully fantastical, and make for a fitting foundation for the story's several (tragic) romances. My recommendation comes with the caveat that the final, definiti…
I chnge my review from not recommend to recommend just because Aine's route alone! Those 3 routes feels unnecessary and do nothing! Moreover those 2 heroines that join group for azz reasons. If you just want good story, just read Aine(and maybe minamo)'s route. The other route just bad and feel uncomfortable when I read it.
