Memoirs of an Angel (2010)

I like it when a game comes with its own Manual. Although at the same time... This game isn't really long and you will figure stuff out rather quickly on your own too... However if YOU DO read the Manual... You will learn a few things... [spoiler]Like Duren originally being into men.[/spoiler] There isn't much character development or world building or time or even crazy ass Stat Building, (THANKFULLY!) but it's fine. You can fill things in with your imagination and you can come to care for characters you might get attached to. And that freaking Villain... [spoiler]This game suckered me into A BAD ENDING! (His only ending...!)[/spoiler] You basically pick a "class" or if you want to do your own build -> Play the game once and unlock the 5th "class". Then you do what you normally do in a Dating Sim. (After you pick Story A or Story B. The characters are split by those.) Except this one isn't repetitive and/or harsh. It also comes with a "heart indicator" which shows up when a Love Interest speaks. I thought that was pretty neat. Everything is explained rather well and there are even Mini Games!!! Memoirs of an Angel is a beautifully written otome game that blends romance with a deep, emotional story about destiny, sacrifice, and hope. The narrative is heartfelt and layered, pulling you into a world that feels both magical and tragic at the same time. Each route explores different aspects of love and faith, and the character development is one of the game’s strongest points — every love interest has meaningful growth and memorable moments. The art style is gorgeous and fits the ethereal tone of the story perfectly, and the music does a great job of enhancing the emotional atmosphere. However, the pacing can be uneven, with some parts feeling rushed while others drag on a little too long. Choices also sometimes feel too straightforward, reducing the sense of agency. Despite these small flaws, Memoirs of an Angel is a touching and immersive experience that will stay with you long after you finish it — especially if you enjoy stories that balance romance with deeper, emotional storytelling. 👼💫

The game play was very good at the beginning. The story had me but... the more I played... the worse it got. For example: the extra characters were the same template in almost every shop. Just because you changed their hair and cloth color, doesn't make it a new person. Plus, if you chose the warrior route, why does she run away all the time, instead of fighting. I did find the character leveling to be fun, but confusing at the same time. Why bother with leveling if you don't know what your leveling for??? Plus, there's no extra screen to look up your stats, hearts, or even a cap bar to show what you need. You only get to see your stats at the end of the day. Why??? And the hearts show on their speech bubbles... But what does the colors mean? A stat screen would be helpful for the choices you make in game. At the end of the game, (when she finally fights) I kept getting crash errors during the fight scene. I think it was because I was suppose to use the arrows during the attack. But everytime I attack, the crash would pop up. So I couldn't even finish the game without dying. Yeah, I suggest don't bother with this game until the author fixes it.

So I played the demo version over ten years ago, and today I suddenly remembered it as i was working on my webtoon which has the word memoirs in it. I looked it up and it was mention that it was completed, I was elated, even more so when it was on steam and was pleasently surprised to see that it was free, I was more than willing to pay! I always wondered how it ended with every character, Now I have only completed one ending but did i feel nostalgic and happy to now be able to do the endings.
