Shove a mage staff RIGHT UP YOUR BUTT3 found this helpful
This was one of those early VR games that I originally thought I kinda wanted and then decided against. I wound up getting it anyway in a bundle so here's my chance to review it. One of the common things about the first wave of VR games is that everyone had to have some bow and arrow stuff. It felt new when I played it in "The Lab" and then progressively got less and less new as everyone else did their take on it. Some did it better than others. If the bow behaved better I'd like this game better. Unfortunately it feels weak. I've used Nerf Bow and arrows with more shot power. BUT it's not all about the bow. Unlike some other games, they added a crossbow (which is like a really slow pistol where your shots still arc due to gravity). Later you get to ride a flying platform and use a staff to fire bolts of energy and then after that you can shoot fireballs from your hands (but the fireballs still arc). It has improved a lot but ultimately I feel it still falls short. Things I liked [list] [*]There is some variety in the stuff you do in this game [*]There is a target practice mode. 0.5 out of 10 I had a good laugh at the positive reviews, even one stating this is better than Holopoint and Raw Data. Clearly mates of the dev, all the positive reviews are basically lies. Now here's the truth.... I acquired Driftwatch from a cheap VR bundle. That in itself is a warning sign, virtually all VR games packed in bundles are terrible, but we take the chance to build our VR libraries, right. Don't buy this off Steam, it's a horrible game. I've played for 15 minutes and experienced all the levels. This is the first VR game to make me yawn, that's no lie I was so bored I yawned. This is being uninstalled right after I've completed trashing this mess. Driftwatch VR is made up of 4 levels, each one arms you with either physical weapons or magic. Sounds interesting with all this variety, right. Wrong, they we're better to focus on one weapon type. The weapons mechanics are average. The enemy are generic goblin creatures that spawn in place or float around on platforms, and cardboard looking flying dragons. Overall the enemy aren't very inspiring, I'm certain it's just cheap stock graphics which a lot of throw away VR games use. Match this all with uninteresting level des…1 found this helpful
Complete Dross!
Target practice was fun. Then level 1 wouldn't let me pick up the bow, so all I could do was stand there and die. Not fun. Not recommended.
The bow imo is weird (how it is held) when the lab already did it a better way. The crossbow level was fun but repetitive and a good difficulty The mage level was super easy and i ended up going back as it never got harder. also the sound was aweful in this level, there was just painful noises whenever the magebolts hit anything. Good graphics... but some big flaws biggest issue is the gameplay is repetitive
