You will have to kill a lot of strange and terrible creatures in your way. They are here to consume you so there is not much of a choice really. The comfort of turn-based combat allows for a tactical approach: take your time, find the enemy's weakness and strike. Except you’ll never face the same enemy twice, so make sure to utilize all the abilities of your party members if you wish to prevail.

Feel the dark and mysterious atmosphere of the city of Gris which contains many secrets too dangerous to be left alone. It’s up to you to save the realm and guide the heroes to a fulfilling life they are looking for. Or succumb to the void and watch them perish.

What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Frail Hearts impresses players with its artistic design, atmospheric music, and dark storytelling ambitions set in the decaying city of Gris, but the execution falls short of its potential. Common complaints center on stilted writing, an overly cryptic and convoluted plot, shallow combat mechanics that feel tacked-on, and technical issues including screen freezes that interrupt gameplay. While some players find the emotionally charged horror-JRPG fusion intriguing and fun, most feel the game's artistic strengths cannot compensate for its narrative and mechanical weaknesses.
The competent artistic design is not enough to carry the game. Frail Hearts looks good, specially the monsters. The music fits the atmosphere and gives each character a distinct ambiance. Sady, the story does not measure up to the same standards. Too many edgy powerful beings involved in a cryptic plot regarding the city of Gris. There was a weird choice of selecting very diverse characters in a group of four adventurers. Combat seems like an afterthought. The explanation of its mechanics takes longer than the actual fight that illustrates it.1 found this helpful
Stilted writing and limited gameplay. Very mixed bag in terms of art and music. Has some interesting aspects but not something I particularly want to continue playing.1 found this helpful
pretty fun and interesting story
Frail Hearts: Versicorae Domlion is a dark, emotionally charged fusion of horror-themed storytelling and JRPG mechanics, presenting a narrative experience that thrives on discomfort, symbolism, and the fragile humanity of its protagonists. Set in the decaying city of Gris, the game introduces players to a place where the boundaries between reality and inner torment have eroded. The world feels cursed, heavy with isolation and despair, and the people trapped within its borders carry their own quiet tragedies. The game quickly establishes that this is not a typical fantasy adventure but a descent into the psyche of characters who are already broken long before the first monster appears. Everything about the setting — from its dim, grimy streets to its haunted interiors — works to reinforce a sense of claustrophobic dread. Rather than guiding a single protagonist, the game unfolds through the intersecting stories of multiple characters, each offering a self-contained narrative arc tied to their personal demons. A troubled gangster looking for a way out of the violence that defines him, a conflicted nun wrestling with faith and guilt, a bookish young woman burdened by unseen fears, an…
Love the art and stories and vibe...but multiple times the screen will freeze leaving me unable to play. I can hear the menu in the background but nothing changes. A shame -- I wanted to learn more about this world and the horrors within it.
A very odd but very excellent game!
