It's a buggy mess and I see no obvious way to finish the game. It is falsely advertised as a "metroidvania". It isn't a metroidvania at all, It is a 2D side-scrolling adventure. If some of the bugs can get fixed, the false advertising changed and some clarity on various things improved then I will flip this to a positive review because the game (when it works) is quite fun. The game doesn't explain some things: Toward the end of the game, I found out that you need to press "Enter" on your keyboard to summon your cat. ..This is despite the fact that I am playing with an Xbox controller.. It should have a dedicated button on my controller and it should have been explained that I even had a cat and could do this. I originally tried to play Homeland on the Steamdeck, but it doesn't work past the first scene of the game. It is also unclear after you beat the first boss/mini-boss that you need to break a spot on the roof where you first came in, in order to exit. I reloaded multiple times after beating this boss thinking the game was just bugged. I'm also unsure how to complete the game after the pyramid at the end begins to crumble. I was running out of it and …

Good game, took me about 7 hours to beat in total. It is a challenge though.

I can only recommend it to people who like... 1: Good soundtrack 2: Incredible atmosphere 3: Slavic folklore 4: Unique art style 5: Cats I can't recommend it to people who like... 1: Good platforming 2: Good 2D combat 3: Normal games This is a great game for people who are Slavic or/and interested in the culture. This is not a good game for people who are solely interested in good game play.

I played this game expecting to be distraught by the so called "glitches" and "lag," but when I actually played Homeland, boy was I surprised. The story (Spoiler Warning as this is a masterclass of a story) was heart breaking, the daughter / girlfriend / friend (was not explained further than her name "Girl") and the story behind her abrupt and unexplained kidnapping is genuinely crazy. And the twist where the game wouldn't progress past the end of the bar fight right at the start, and had no ways to show you how to do so, unparalleled. And don't even get me started on the ten minute long cut scene at the start with the flashing skulls, as you slowly ride across some random street as "Girl" waves out of the car and slowly deteriorates into blood and bones, SHIVERS!!! Final rating: 1/10 Never saw the dragon, have to assume it was the "Girl" in disguise.
