✦ AI summary
Play as investigative journalist Isabelle Hewitt searching for your missing colleague in an abandoned estate haunted by a family curse, armed with weapons and wits to survive encounters with deadly foes. Martha blends survival horror atmosphere with action-packed combat and detective work, letting you choose whether to fight, flee, or solve puzzles your way through a non-linear mystery.

Martha is an intense first-person survival horror that is riddled with action, frightful family secrets and chilling surprises. You won’t be a helpless victim holding a flashlight: you can use firearms & melee weapons to down foes. Explore a ramshackle house where you can get your Sherlock on to unlock the story with a series of notes and artifacts.

1st of May 1996.
You are Isabelle Hewitt, a determined freelance reporter with a penchant for getting sh*t done and taking matters into your own hands. Your close work colleague, Jack Meyer, is missing and you have not heard from him in nearly two weeks. Having worked with him for over a decade, you know this is very much out of character.
Jack was in the regional outskirts of Annadeer to investigate a family who went missing from the Albrecht Estate, which is rumored to be struck by a family curse. The house has been left abandoned and now Jack is nowhere to be seen. Why so many missing people in the local area, you wonder.
The local police are reluctant to investigate, so now it’s up to you.

In 1968 Martha Albrecht and her husband Albert went missing from the estate home they had built near the Annadeer mountains. The house lay abandoned for over twenty years until two hapless property barons decided to buy it. Emily and Daniel Burkheart became the proud new owners of the Albrecht Estate in 1994.
Following a series of strange and unexplained events at the house, the Burkheart family have also vanished without a trace. With little to no investigation from local authorities, the town folk now refer to the area as being under the Albrecht family curse.

Not satisfied with the notable lack of action by the local police, you decide to take a drive to Annadeer in search of Jack. Is the Albrecht family curse real or just coincidence? Is a serial killer on the loose? Just what do the police know and what are they hiding?

- Atmosphere meets action: Martha has all the tension of a first-person horror game but plenty of action. You won’t be a helpless victim holding a flashlight: you can use firearms, melee weapons and even your bare fists to fight your enemies.
- Fight or flee: Ammo is limited and foes are deadly, so choose your weapons wisely. You decide how to tackle the encounters: do you run and wait them out or stand and fight like a boss?
- Solve puzzles: Crack codes, discover combinations and enjoy the good old-fashioned key hunts that await you.
- Uncover the truth: Martha has a rich story line, interesting characters and plenty of thrills.
- Non-linear structure: You decide the sequence to tackle the challenges and find your own path.

In Martha you're looking for your missing friend name Jack who went to investigate a house that is known for missing persons and possible murders. Somehow your character thinks it's a great idea to go there too. You get trapped inside the house searching for Jack and unraveling the mystery of Martha, her husband, and the family that lived there afterwards. I enjoyed this game quite a bit and had a few decent jump scares. I completed this game to the ending credits and would recommend it as a fun indie horror game. PROS: * Fun jump scares * Can save at anytime from the "home PC" * Puzzles * Great atmosphere & SFX to match it * Game seems to have some form of autosave when you pick up key items, but not regular expendable items * If you die, you can find health & ammo again in the rooms to get inventory restocked CONS: * Little confusing on where to go on some of the puzzles (order of operations was a bit convoluted) * Have to TAB to get into the inventory to swap weapons * Weapon reload is SLOW * Melee is useless * Targeting is bad, which is important for firing the gun to slow down enemies (be ready for some jank) https://www.seravium.com https://twitch.tv/seravium10 found this helpful
game bad, although 2 hours spent playing the wrong game could think of worse things to play to pass the time. Also why the ♥♥♥♥ does the dog scream like Martha?3 found this helpful
This game is priced low for a reason. The whole thing feels cheap and outdated. This is just another low-budget typical indie horror game made with the Unity engine where every single door seems to be locked and you need to go on a key hunt. Movement is clunky, textures are muddy, gameplay is dull, notes are uninteresting, you cannot remap controls, there is no rain effect, you can only sprint a very short distance, combat is extremely unresponsive, shooting guns is a joke, interaction is also unresponsive and finicky, your character moves at a snail's pace and breathes hard until you heal, sometimes pressing the heal button does not work, getting stuck on certain objects and attacks from the enemy cause frame rate drops, the inventory system is awful and cheap looking, there is no direction how to proceed, and the game is not scary at all. Overall, I found this game unenjoyable and I cannot recommend it.3 found this helpful
SO just need to say, if your game has a max amount of lives before it reverts you back to the beginning, you should state that in the intro/instructions/anything... just wasted 1hr+ doing full completion/search of environment to be spawned killed 3 times by the crawl attack, resulting in my 5th and final death restarting my entire game with no progress. I instantly deleted the game from my account.1 found this helpful
This game is fantastic!!! One of the best and creepiest horror games I've ever played. Great job devs and keep um coming.
Competently enough put together horror which does just enough to elevate it over some of the awful hordes of others that infest steam. There's a little bit of story which is relayed mostly through finding letters. Most of the gameplay is going room to room, avoiding or blasting Martha and a series of zombies which get progressively added to the game as you unlock more of the house and grounds. There's nothing hugely innovative here. There's a little clunkiness present in terms of how the game wants you positioned in order to interactive with items/doors, but there was nothing gamebreaking. Especially on sale this is worth a gander to kill an hour or two.
