Revenge of the Killer Octopus is a level-based shooter all about fighting hordes of enemies in order to take your vengeance on the scientists who have kept you imprisoned for so long. Shoot through waves of enemies as you try to find your method of escape from this sci-fi nightmare.
Student Project
RotKO is a capstone game made by Messy Bed Productions, a 24-student team from the University of Utah's Entertainment Arts and Engineering program. For all of us, it is our first game published to Steam. The music was made in partnership with students from Berklee College of Music.

You've been trapped within this lab for so long. It's finally time to break free. Thanks to an intelligence enhancing serum, you can use the power of your 8 guns and miraculous grappling tentacle to shoot down those dastardly scientists that dared to keep you imprisoned!
Possess Their Minds
Swing onto an enemy's head in order to take over their body and mind for a limited time! Use their fleshy meat-bodies as a shield to prevent yourself from dying, and suffuse your life with theirs with every foe captured!
Take Back Your Life
Slaughter your way through the lab, or face the consequences of failure. Will you decimate your scientist foes, or will you become sushi?

Revenge of the Killer Octopus is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from the University of Utah in the USA. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. This is a primitive shooter with some really lazy backdrops and a couple of gimmicks like possession and so on... but as a student project this really lacks depth (even compared to other student projects). the game feels laggy and uncomfortable to maneuver, its really not for me but might be something someone else enjoys
Thank god this game is free because no one should ever pay money for it. I am more entertained by it in 5 minutes than I have been by any $60 game on this platform. Incredible. Be careful not to get stuck in the pool bc the octopus can't swim. Also make sure to kill all the enemies in the main room before going anywhere else or you'll get stuck in the texture black hole of doom. Looking around while there are too many enemies is a nightmarish task but if it ran perfectly I'd've been bored in a second. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ aweseome
