Summoner Rises, developed and published by the indie creator 月龙千叶, is one of those small-scale action RPGs that immediately communicates its identity—an inexpensive, passion-driven project built around a simple but engaging mechanical hook. It begins with a familiar fantasy premise: an ordinary person is yanked from reality and thrust into another world through a computer, ultimately forced to grow stronger and fight their way back home. The narrative is intentionally light, functioning more as a backdrop than a driver, but it suits the structure of a game that clearly prioritizes combat systems, loot, and character progression over deep storytelling. Instead of extensive cutscenes or lore documents, the game expresses its world through enemies, environments, and the tools you acquire, giving it the feel of a brisk, gameplay-first adventure rather than a narrative epic. At the heart of Summoner Rises lies its relationship between equipment and abilities. i don't know what to say about it in game it says all the content works except and then goes on to list every single possible function as not working, the help bar is just flat out wrong and the actual text is only like 15% translated if that and the summoning doesn't actually work and the bosses only show up every 50 levels and the dungeon and trial keys literally do nothing except take p space in your bag, there is no way to open the treasure chests and if you fall of the map through one of an endless amount of glitches your health will empty and kill you after a time but dying that way does not respawn you you just keep falling until you rage quit. and after all that i have to say i some how still find it entertaining and invested way too much time into it with no actual progress.

The game is a low-end entry into the action genre, with only the most basic gameplay and nothing that makes it stand out. The only exception is the graphics, which are quite nice but also very demanding on your hardware. This makes the game inaccessible to the very players who usually go for these types of games, those who prefer cheap fun without spending hundreds just to run it. You move your character forward through a linear environment and shoot a wide volley of projectiles in the direction you’re aiming. Firing doesn’t cost anything, and there’s no energy or stamina system, so you can spam it as much as you want. The only thing you need to watch is your health. The last major feature is summons. When you defeat a boss, you gain its summon, which can be used freely and without restrictions, aside from a short cooldown between uses. Spamming attacks is required because, while some enemies die quickly, others are bullet sponges that force you to get close so they’re hit by every projectile in your volley. At least one boss is broken due to this bullet-sponge effect, and his health never seems to go down. You can play it safe and stay back, but you’ll have to fire a lot to take…
