The Apotheosis Project

The Apotheosis Project, developed by Midian Design and published by Screen 7, is a traditional point-and-click adventure that embraces the design sensibilities of classic titles while attempting to tell a science fiction story rooted in conspiracy and human experimentation. It carries a clear sense of ambition, particularly in its narrative setup and dual-protagonist structure, but that ambition is often tempered by uneven execution and a lack of modern refinement. The story follows Penelope Barker and Aaron Reid, operatives working for a powerful organization whose motives become increasingly suspect as events unfold. What begins as a standard mission quickly develops into something more unsettling, as both characters find themselves entangled in a larger conspiracy involving genetic experimentation and the possibility of transcending human limitations. The premise is compelling and offers plenty of room for intrigue, but the storytelling struggles to maintain cohesion. Bad point & click adventure

I'm a big fan of Point & Click Adventure Games and during my downtime over the Festive Period I wanted to try and get through as many of these as I could. I realise giving this a 'No' can come across as a little harsh but I want to comment on why it is I felt this wasn't deserving of a recommendation from me. The Character Swapping Mechanic: This was done far far better in the Blackwell Series of Games by Wadjet. There's something unique here in that you can stop your partner following you but honestly I never actually needed this, it would be far better to have just left that alone rather than making it a feature and then rendering it immediately redundant to the gameplay mechanic. Inventory Sharing: Each character has their own inventory and scrolling it takes time and effort so I found it easier to just dump crap on one of the characters that I later discovered in my playthrough I was never gonna need (See: Wooden Spoon). The Art Style: This is where i'm gonna be harsh. I disliked the art style. It felt like it was trying to evoke retro graphics of Broken Sword too much whereas I would've preferred a crisper and more polished look for something beyond Broken Swor…

The Apotheosis Project . The interesting game! There are strange music, strange vusual, Intrigue plot, funny characters. The game is somewhat similar to Silent Hill, but It is sci-fi story. . Controls: Point and click RMB to undo . Mechanics and features: Two detectives who come into conflict. Long cutscens. We can switch between two characters.

Good voice dialogue, poor game play experience. Having to click everything twice with both characters and it do nothing 95% makes it extremely boring. The game does try to be funny by having your character basically call you an idiot for clicking certain objects but when you are forced to use process of elimination to progress, the remarks get old pretty quickly. The only way you learn to progress is by wasting time clicking everything with both characters. Not really much there to guide you. I read nothing about this being a puzzle game, and it really isn't but it feels like it. You literally have to click every single object. If you're going to buy it, get it for 10 cents. I got bored after chapter 2, maybe it got better later on but there wasn't enough to keep me entertained and I'm not clicking every object multiple times and switching characters for pointless reasons for the next 5 hours. Not to mention playing in 1440p locks you in a small screen, stuck in exclusive fullscreen mode with no way to change it.
