About The Count of Monster Disco

PLEASE NOTE: Train Simulator is not required to play this game.

The people of New Town are totally unaware,
Of a place you imagine only if you dare,
Trainsylvania is a spooky and frightful land,
In which the Count of Monster Disco has a mansion so grand.

He is holding a party for his frightful friends,
But something’s not right as dusk nears an end,
Not a pumpkin, decoration or nibble in sight,
Will everyone be disappointed this party night?

You are the monstrous driver of a ghoulish steam train,
But will getting the supplies be a complete pain?
Capture the cobwebs and gather the snacks,

But beware…..

The sight of the guests will make your bones CLICKETY-CLACK!

It’s Halloween, and the vampire owner of Trainsylvania Mansion, the Count of Monster Disco, is looking forward to the Halloween Party he holds every year for his frightful friends.

But, there’s a problem! It’s dusk already and his mansion isn’t ready for the party. As Frankie, the monstrous driver of ‘The Spirit of Halloween’ steam train, help our horrible host organise his fright night. Through a series of frighteningly exciting tasks, explore the spooky town of Trainsylvania to pick up Halloween decorations, wagons filled with monster snacks and carriages of ghoulish passengers.

Then, deliver them to Trainsylvania Mansion and make this a Halloween party to remember!

But only if you dare……

Bought this game on the recommendation, nay the insistence, of a friend who has become a huge Train Simulator enthusiast. It was half-off during the Halloween sale, and even at full-price it is much less than the original game. It is a great introduction to the unique gameplay. As my friend said, explaining the gameplay makes it sound boring, so suffice to say, it is a fairly relaxed experience, with the simple controls, simple objectives, and observation of the camera angles and maps. It is not exactly easy, with different resources to manage, but it is a slow paced game that gives you time to ponder the nature of transportation by rails. I played this game on Ubuntu Linux with the Steam Play tools. With the advice from ProtonDB, I manually unpacked some data-files, so that the game could load the levels correctly. The game ran fine, with great framerates, afterward. The game uses mouse-only or keyboard controls, and it includes a lengthy PDF manual. Even while this DLC is a fun-hearted theme, the gameplay is still serious, which gives a good idea for the full game (I suppose). This DLC has many scenarios to play, which range from very easy to very difficult. I highly recommend t…

This is a fun and well done I wish they would do another one for Halloween 2021 and other times of the year would be great. I have also bought Christmas themed add on's but there haven't been any new add on's like these for a long time it's too bad I would buy more if available

The Count of Monster Disco, developed by Skyhook Games and Dovetail Games and published by Dovetail Games - Trains, is an unconventional entry in the train simulation space that trades strict realism for a playful, Halloween-themed narrative. Instead of focusing purely on technical accuracy and operational depth, the experience leans into a whimsical premise, turning the act of driving a train into a story-driven journey through a fictional world filled with monsters, quirky characters, and seasonal charm. Set in the imaginative region of Trainsylvania, the game casts players as Frankie, a loyal locomotive operator working under the eccentric Count of Monster Disco. The central objective revolves around preparing for a grand Halloween celebration, with tasks that include transporting decorations, delivering guests, and ensuring the Count’s elaborate party plans come together smoothly. This narrative framing adds a sense of purpose that goes beyond the usual “move cargo from point A to point B” structure typical of train simulators. Even though the story itself remains simple, its tone—often delivered with a lighthearted, almost storybook-like quality—helps maintain a consistent se…

Also recommended as a tutorial to learn the basics of train simulators, such as shunting freight cars, transporting passengers, and operating steam locomotives.
