The Veiled Ones is a stealth horror game about a Muslim exorcist trying to save his son from a jinn possession. Inspired by the invisible entities from Islam, the players must rely on a magic artifact and their hearing to survive the jinn haunting their son, and unravel the mystery behind their son's disappearance.

Use the black magic artifact called the Looking Glass to peer into a haunting realm, and navigate the invisible enemies that are haunting you
Look for clues about your son's possession while hiding from invisible jinn. Listen to their footsteps, use the Looking Glass, and avoid the crying whispers
Piece together the clues and exorcise your son. Who is possessing him? And why?

The Veiled Ones was created as part of the University of Southern California’s Advanced Game Project (AGP) in collaboration with students from Otis College of Art and Design, Berklee College of Music, and Laguna College of Art and Design. Players appreciate this free horror game for its solid dialogue, engaging story, and respectful approach to scares without relying on cheap jump scares, with some praising its completion and recommend it to horror newcomers. However, the game is frequently criticized for poor controls that detract from the experience, technical issues including freezing and minor graphical glitches, and some view it dismissively as a student project lacking the depth of professionally developed games.

Hello, I recently tried to play The Veiled Ones on my PC, but the game consistently freezes and shows the message: “TheVeiledOnes.exe is not responding. If you close the program, you might lose information. Please advise if there is a known fix or if a patch is planned to address this freezing issue on PC. Thank you for your support.
"The Veiled Ones" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from USC Games in the USA. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students made a horror stealth game where you take on the role of a Muslim exorcist trying to save his son from a djinn possession. This involves you using a black magic artifact called the Looking Glass to peer into a "haunting realm", which is less jumpscare and more hiding from invisible enemies, using your ears to listen to their footsteps to help avoid them, and if you can …

I'll state that even though this game is free, it packs a pretty hefty punch. I loved the whole essence of the game and where the devs took it to completion. The dialog is really good, up to today's standards at least. :D I whole heartily recommend The Veiled Ones to anyone dipping their big toe into horror games. Not really any jump scares but not all horror games need that. It was a FUN game to play with amazing dialog and i only hope for a continuation of The Veiled Ones. Very well made.
Hardly even use the flashlight lol, but then again i went with 50% brightness
Cons: i did glitch out a couple times but nothing game breaking, i had sort of a X-ray issue on some of the walls in the basement, again nothing horrible.
