‘Little Shell’s Adventure’ is a top-down action adventure starring a turtle tasked with saving his island from a crab invasion. The plot also focuses on family, and topics such as divorce. I was immediately drawn to this one by the gorgeous pixel-art, and the adorable protagonist. The game looks a lot like a game from the NES era, and takes inspiration from the original Zelda game, Minit, and even the recent Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion. As Little Shell, you move around a series of one screen areas, battle lots of colourful crustaceans and talk to a cast of wacky NPCs. Combat is pretty simplistic, you get a sword early in the game, which can be thrust in four directions – and like similar 8-bit games – you really need to line up your slash to hit an enemy. Later upgrades allow you to throw your sword, and even shell roll. There’s plenty of costumes to buy in shops – dress as a ninja turtle, or even a swashbuckling pirate. It’s up to you. Enter dungeons, solve puzzles, fight off the hoard in wave rooms, and discover secret areas. It’s not a very long game, but it’s an impressive achievement from a solo developer.

Well worth the money! Super cute story, the character's dialogues have a lot of humor in them and I'm genuinely surprised this game doesn't have more reviews. I had a lot of fun playing this game :)

Looks like a unique zelda like adventure game, and I enjoyed the little bit that I played of it. However, I just can't stand games that put noises over the text dialog. If they add a setting to turn them off I'll give it another try.

3/5 stars. It feels like an old Zelda game. It's awesome. I mean, I can't really complain about this one. Good art, fun story, more fun gameplay. It's pretty great. Just wish I could figure out if the 2 achievements I'm missing are actually still in the game or if they were patched over from older versions. I recommend this if you like Zelda. I recommend this if you just like indie games. It was worth it. Absolutely.
