This is the perfect VR rhythm game. It seems unbelievable to me that this gem of a game seems to have been largely overlooked by both rhythm gaming and VR gaming communities. This game has already perfected VR rhythm gameplay and I don't think any other game has come close. The mechanics make great use of your full arm span, combining individual notes into big movements that feel amazing to execute. It has a high difficulty ceiling, ensuring you have many goals to work up towards, while the level design still ensures a good time. Even then, it doesn't forget its rhythm game roots, and has notes that require button inputs to mix up gameplay. Unlike certain other VR rhythm games, scoring on all notes is directly tied to timing accuracy only, so you can be assured that getting better at timing and executing movements will actually result in score improvements. And yet, what really makes this game is all the personality it has. It's vibrant and colorful, with incredible environments that just feel uplifting to be in. Worth adding to your collection if you like rhythm action games. It's very different from all the other ones I've played. Expert+ on Beat Saber isn't hard for me anymore; I have no problem doing different patterns with each arm at the same time... But for some reason, squeezing the trigger with one hand and grabbing the handle with the other hand at the same time, and switching rapidly back and forth, as this game makes you do, messes my brain up so hard. I wonder if it would be easier with Quest than Index, since it would just be a choice between two triggers, with either your index or ring finger, instead of two actions that feel different and awkward to switch between. But challenging my brain like that is what makes rhythm action games fun. The backgrounds look nice, and the fact that you're going down a tunnel is kinda neat and hypnotic. Music is ok. It's neat that it kind of has a story. Cute, super-Japanese aesthetic. Set it to Japanese audio with subtitles for greater authenticity.

Unbelievably underrated in both gameplay and presentation; it feels like it came right out of a japanese arcade with how bright and vibrant it is, and I wish more VR rhythm games were like it. Even though the song list may seem paltry compared to other offerings, I still think this was worth the price of admission, and hope that the devs make a sequel, or another team takes up the mantle.

Airtones is an arcade-style VR rhythm game. Family-friendly in terms of design. Gameplay actually utilizes controller buttons, which is rare in most rhythm games. Not officially supported, but this [b]worked on WMR[/b] for me. The English voice acting seems amateurish (being talked to like a 5 year old, unless that's the target audience?). Japanese VA is professionally done though, so that's my setting now. Color is great, high saturation, but not flashy-neon seizure-inducing. Song selection is limited (2017, arcade-style = reasonable), so I suggest getting it on sale.
