Backloggd Review
Score:
★★★½ It's a cool little resource management game in which you control a capsule navigating through space. Your objective is to dock at various outposts and research labs to uncover the secrets of a mysterious anomaly. The game is presented entirely through a diegetic, low fidelity radar-like interface and features minimalistic gameplay systems and narrative elements. You must scavenge for fuel and oxygen by scanning points of interest and either flying over or avoiding them. Discovering what each of them do and how they work is part of the fun. For instance, drones attempt to collide with your capsule, while some enemies are drawn to your scanner pings. Running out of power and getting stranded in Capsule is distressing: unless you find a way to prime your engine and restart it, you're stuck watching your character helplessly struggle for breath as your oxygen depletes. This game is best played with a surround sound system or headphones to fully immerse yourself in its immersive audio environment.1 found this helpful
I loved playing this game. Minimal, yet immersive. Audio experience (pure ambient audio) is great and make you feel exactly in the environment (pod). Reminds me "in other waters" for the sense of exploration.
This was recommended by the Bitmap book on horror games, so I bought it on sale and tried it. It's extremely minimalistic and retro indeed, it reminds me of arcade games from the early 80s like Dig Dug or, more directly, Asteroids. The horror aspect didn't click for me, it didn't feel frightening or claustrophobic despite the heavy breathing and the suffocation of the pilot. The sound is supposed to be a really important part of the experience, so for once I played through this with sound turned on, although I play everything without any sound normally. For me personally, sound or no sound didn't make any real difference in this game either, sorry, but at least it wasn't irritating. The way you need to learn the game little by little, as simple as it is, is designed very well. Up to a point you just learn what the obstacles are, try to avoid them, and save fuel by floating slowly, but in later stages you realize that this usually isn't enough, since you don't find enough air or fuel dropped randomly to travel all the way to the goal. Around this point, you eventually figure out by trial and error how to farm a lot of fuel and air using drones, shrikes and the other moving things, …

Very fun little game. It has some unique mechanics you don't see in many other games. I love the retro style. My only complaint would be that it doesn't have a setting menu to adjust sound settings and such. but its very compact so I don't blame it for not having the niceties I'm used to. Definitely worth getting on sale.
