About Cross of the Dutchman
Cross of the Dutchman is an action adventure game based on the true story of the folk legend 'Pier Gerlofs Donia'.
The story takes place in medieval Western Europe, in the province of Frisia, near the turn of the 16th century. Though Pier and his family lived in peace, the world around them was changing for the worse. Saxon legions were invading nearby villages, making the lives of the native people next to impossible. On one fateful day, Pier got involved with the Saxon oppressors, escalating the situation for the worse. The events portrayed in this great adventure caused Pier to gather a band of farmers and form a front against the oppressors. The acts that followed made Pier into the legend he is known for, the Cross of the Dutchman.

Cross of the Dutchman . We immediately dive into the game. A good decision. It introduces a plot about a man in Europe during a faction war. The visual style is not bad. The characters' dialogue is dumb, flat, and cliché. The story is boring, and the missions are too straightforward. We can't make any decisions :( The fighting system is not bad; it is a pleasure to attack. I wish there were more interactive objects. . Controls: Point and click. Tab to open the map. . Mechanics and features: Mission list on the left side of the map. We can collect items. Attack enemies and boxes. Talk with other characters.
Short simple ARPG, more keen on the story side as gameplay isn't that difficult. Has some minor bugs, once I couldn't attack anymore but restart fixed. Resolution only goes up to 1920x1200 for me (running 3440x1440) and fullscreen locks the mouse to top left part of the screen for that resolution. This was fixable through appdata/locallow/triangle studios config file fix and borderless gaming to max out the screen. Took 3h to 100% in single playthrough, so time wise okay for the price. Has only been bundled once when I got it.
Fun short game. The combat isn't very complex but does the job. The story is straightforward but it gives a nice introduction into the historical time of Grutte Pier in 1515 in Friesland, The Netherlands.
The story is captivating and kept me hooked, and the graphic style is really nice. I especially enjoyed the stealth missions. Achievements are pretty easy to unlock, which is a bonus for achievement hunters like me. However, I did find myself bumping into the surroundings a bit too often, which took away from the fun a little. Despite that, it's still a solid hack-and-slash game with some nice exploration.
clunky
A generic uninspired waste of 3 hours controlled exclusively via the left & right mouse buttons
