Curtain Call

Curtain Call exceeded my expectations. Considering it's a free game developed by university students as a project, I had a great time with it. The classical theatre setting immediately stood out to me, and the music does a fantastic job of creating tension throughout the experience. What I appreciated most is that the game doesn't rely on cheap jump scares. Instead, it keeps you on edge through its atmosphere, sound design, and the feeling that something is always slightly off. It's proof that horror doesn't need constant scares to be effective. The gameplay isn't particularly difficult, but it's not so easy that you can completely switch your brain off either. It strikes a nice balance and works well for a shorter experience. I also really appreciate the recent bug fixes, the addition of achievements, and the new ending. It's great to see the developers continuing to support the game after release. Overall, this is an impressive project and a very enjoyable horror experience. I'm looking forward to future updates, and I'd love to see what the developers create next.

Cool atmosphere, nice music, cool enviroment, nice ideas. I countered one bug at the start and two fatal errors, but other than that - I liked it.

Well, it's a free short horror game made in Unreal Engine by a group of students. The game is pretty decent, has some mild scare jumps and offers a unique combat system. I really like the design of the enemies a lot. It does have its own fair share of bugs though, especially on the puzzle-solving part. Also, some achievements seem to be broken and some of the hidden ones have no description, so I don't know how to unlock them or if they are also broken, which imo is such an unlogical game design decision. It's like playing the lottery, but with our precious time as currency. Overall, still an enjoyable experience with some oppsies here and there. You can maybe squeeze out an hour of gameplay if you play it slowly or speedrun it under 15 min.

It's a short but really made horror game that uses the tried and true tropes in the right way. It does not have jump scares or gore. But rather builds it's tension from the unknown nature of the building and it's denizens as well as a mysterious curse that warps the theater.

I don't normally write game reviews but this game - no, its not just a game, its an experience, life changing, tear jerking, deserves a review. I have long been a fan of the many works such as risk of pain by a certain AI and sound programmer called Mr Flinterman, and let me tell you this game has the Flinterman Touch The Flinterman Touch™ cannot be taught. It can only be witnessed. People will tell you Curtain Call was made by a team. While technically true, it's important to remember that Michelangelo also had assistants. From the very first minute you can feel the unmistakable Flinterman Touch™. Every mechanic, every artistic choice, every perfectly placed pixel radiates the sort of brilliance that can only come from a man destined to own multiple mansions. The rest of the development team also did an admirable job, and I'm sure they were grateful for the opportunity to work in Mr. Flinterman's creative orbit. Having "Worked with Tijn Flinterman" on your CV is essentially the games industry equivalent of a knighthood. What's even more unbelievable is that the game is currently free. Free. As in, it costs absolutely nothing to experience what future generations will undoubted…

I got a lot of bugs, but the world feels really cool and looks very good
