I have rather mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it is a good improvement over previous Spiders games, but on the other hand, I had the hardest time completing it, whereas I sat through their Technomancer series without any pauses. Don't get me wrong, GreedFall's story isn't bad; on the contrary, it was interesting to follow, featuring nice characters and a decent plot hook and twist. However, the gameplay felt "heavy" at times. As a piece of advice: don't play as pure build. I had more fun playing a mage-pistol hybrid than anything I tried before that. Another plus point for this game is the fact that it runs well. I didn't encounter any bugs, stutters, crashes. If I need to pinpoint the actual downsides of this game... well, I did not like the excessive backtracking at times and the re-use of assets, specifically in the governor palace. But that is about it. It is a nice little AA RPG that is worth a try, especially if you are reading this while it's on discount.1 found this helpful
If you can get this game on sale, I highly recommend it. The worldbuilding and the characters really do make it a worthwhile experience. Pros: - Wonderful Worldbuilding - Great Characters - Amazing Voice Acting Work - Really great optimization - Fun monster design -Story made me sob at the end - I cannot express enough how in love I am with the world and the lore. Neutral: - Combat can be good, but you really should experiment with the weapons/magic you're using. I'm a little sad I couldn't blend weapons and magic more, though. - Lots of walking. A lot. But at least we run fast? - You will wish you spent your level up points abilities and skills on other skills and abilities almost the entire game until you get friendly relationships with your companions. A good companion set up and some good crafting on your clothes, however, means you can have all the most important skills and abilities maxxed out pretty quickly. Just... do the side quests. Cons: - Towards the end of the game the formulaic quests *do* become a little frustrating and tedious. I can't say I would design a better quest if I was set to the task, but I do w…
As an RPG, the story must be king, and in GreedFall it is. It's not a new story, having been explored often in cinema but rarely in games, but it is told well in GreedFall: that of White Man's Burden, and Logos vs. Mythos. Readers of Guy Gavriel Kay's The Lions of Al-Rassan will also nod along in places. It is well told and compelling. The game does a lot of things well, and has borrowed smartly from others. On the other hand, it does combat incredibly poorly. That, or the console-to-PC adaptation broke a cog somewhere. Targets won't stay locked, your character dodges in different directions than the one it's facing (back into the boss, for instance), enemies can push you out of their own aggro range, resetting the entire encounter, and combat as a spellcaster is reduced to mind-numbing potion-chugging. The game is often criticized for poor fast travel and overuse of fetch-type quests. Personally, I found the travel system completely satisfactory, and I found the "fetching" to be mostly justified by the story. You are playing a diplomat. Surely there is bound to be some back-and-forth? For an AA-game, GreedFall is just great. Spiders did not deserve their fate.
Game is fun to play with an interesting storyline that feels a little different from others out there. Following the maps can get annoying at times especially since you can't really jump. It can feel a little tedious if you get stuck in a portion that has a lot of back and forth communicating with different factions.
When reflecting on a game, I am never really sure what I am going to write about. I want to capture the essence of a game, but I get stuck whenever I try to write it out. GreedFall is bland, its combat is simple, and its world features copy-and-paste buildings (though it does make sense layout-wise, given it's an island built up by the same colonizers and natives). Its character growth is extremely simple as well; skills, talents, and attributes basically feel like a checklist where you just dump points. The game has limited skill expression, enemy variety is small, and bosses get reused. It fits perfectly into the mold of a 6-to-8-out-of-10 game. However, the game did something that genuinely surprised me: it made side quests worth doing and set up interesting conflicts to navigate. At times, the villains were mustache-twirling clichés where the alternative option was 50–100 gold. That alternative suggestion always gave me a good laugh. Are you sure you don’t want to massacre a village of innocents? Ching-ching. The game should have been shorter with fewer areas, but overall, I am quite satisfied with it. Giving the main character a solid sprint speed, super quick loading…
GreedFall is a great game with a rich story and decisions that actually matter. i like the narrative, but i wouldn't recommended it for combat it feels like turn based fighting in real time, which isn't for everyone. Personally, i really enjoyed the charisma and constitution option when talking to character in this game, also i can run this game with UHD Graphics
