About inSynch
Somewhere between rhythm game and musical instrument, inSynch is an arcade game at heart. Allowing the player to act while being acted upon: follow the score you compose, express intent making sense of the music born from your actions.
A simple gameplay (press 4 keys to catch incoming shapes from the four corners of your screen) allows for a meditative Explore mode in which you play along the music you compose and a more survival-focused Exploit mode in which you try to hold-on to your lives as the game gets progressively harder.
The game is entirely crafted and animated by hand using traditional stop motion animation techniques, giving a fragile and delicate feel to this musical experience.
Don’t let yourself be tricked though, Exploit mode gets hellishly difficult!
The game is an updated version of a museum exhibition prototype we made in 2011 and features a lengthy making of, packed with gorgeous photographs of the crafting of all our set pieces and art research, music composition captioned with insights into every step of the two year project.

First of all I want to make clear that I did enjoy the game, but I won't recommend it for the following reasons. inSynch is a"rhythm game" about pushing some buttons at the same time some shapes go above them, if you do it too son they will not get pushed farther, if you do it too late they won't be pushed properly, you need to push them in the right moment. The game is nice, it's entertaining and will not last too much, I have currently played 51 minutes according to steam and I already completed all the levels (in a way), the game just feels really easy in that sense, it has two modes, one is a score-based mode where you just push the shapes into the hole and at some point they will come back and you will use them to get points, the other one is a "how long can you survive without making mistakes"-mode, this feels more like an arcade type of game, just do it as long as you can last, but you have no particular objective (other than the 60 seconds you need to last to get the achievement, which I believe can be called the "completion"). I'm a big fan of steam achievements, I try to complete the games I like to 100% achievements and it kinda bothers me when games just give away ac…15 found this helpful
Highly addictive, hectic andfun, inSynch is the puzzle game that masquerades as a rhythm game. You hit four keys to bump four different blocks into a pit to make the level's song grow and transform into the full song, and that's about it! Timing is absolutely key.7 found this helpful
How this utterly gorgeous piece of interactive art has gone so utterly unnoticed is an assault to the senses. InSynch, you deserve better. What can I say to convince you to support this completely ignored gem? That it's a handcrafted rythm based masterpiece that is a shockingly good time by yourself or with a friend? It's hard to put into words the endearment I feel for this game, and the borderline disgust I have that this is being overlooked in favor of Temper Tantrum. This entire game has "Indie Success Story" written all over it, one that the likes of Kotaku and Polygon would be drooling at the chance to cover, and yet...nothing. I usually dive into the mishmash of the game and give my thoughts but really, borkabrak had it covered. This is a work of art, a borderline masterpiece. Here it is people, a great, unique indie game that could bring couples together and cause devotion from a number of aspiring artists, and yet here it sits, virtually untouched for half a year. So rarely do I find a game so filled with utter passion for its art, and so gleeful and fascinating to play for small bites of time. I went over to see how well their android version of the game is: surely i…6 found this helpful
I like the artwork and animation style, but it is a very difficult rhythm game to play. The music you are playing the game to isn't affected at all whether you hit the right notes or not. Also there is no specific musical queue to tell you when each different shape should be pushed into the middle. All of the shapes are coming from different corners of the screen, making it a bit hectic, and the animations, while unique, tend to obscure exactly when you should be hitting each shape.1 found this helpful
I've bought this a long time ago when it was first released on the Humble store; only later did I receive Steam key. For me the aesthetics fell pretty close to the uncanny valley. My brain tries to see things as real objects, but then they aren't which confuses me slightly. Additionally, the low animation frames and unnatural physics when dropping, makes it feel even more strongly off putting. But that's just my personal taste, others might not even see this. The levels are quite fun to complete, but it can be quite tricky to keep up with four different moving lanes and often it's rather hard to actually hear the rhythm. It's an indie game, so don't go in with high expectations only to get disappointed.1 found this helpful
Wonderfully weird rythm game with an absolutely astonishing stop motion look. Takes some getting used to but once you start learning to parse the game area, getting into a perfect flow is an amazingly meditative experience.1 found this helpful
