Despite features like the leaderboard no longer working and needing to have versions of your own songs in specific formats saved, this game feels remarkably fresh. It's vibrant, responds to music well, and is a generally really great time. Being able to upgrade your ship is a fun quirk, and that there's a storyline really helps. If you are using a controller, it's very important you go into controller settings and choose "gamepad", otherwise you're going to potentially hit a whole host of issues. I'd also recommend the beta branch or the testing one. Overall, I'm really impressed by the game and can't believe it holds up this well after 15 years. Would love a sequel someday.

Yeah, this is an excellent way to play through your music.
A lovely little game, a shoot-em up where the enemy spawns depend on your own music that you let the game scan. There's a relatively defent variety of enemy types, a few bosses and types of weapons that you unlock from each song. Overall, it's not very complex or too hard, but that's a benefit - the game doesn't really get in the way of enjoying some arcade shooting while listening to your own music. Of course, the quality of your experience will depend on whether you have your favorites saved to your PC, which in the era of streaming music may be a little rarer, but it's a charming little game nonetheless.
I have always adored this game so much I'm sad it never got ported over to newer phone devices... I'll always love this game.
