Metal Glove: Exodus

I did a play through man and I had fun. Its short simple and kinda like old Diablo. Except no crazy loot system, and its very simple. I really enjoyed finding where the glyph for the puzzles were hidden, and finding ways to quickly dispatch large groups of enemies. Such as luring them into the classic red explosive barrels or using all the different attacks available to build up damage and take out zombies. It was fun to run through and its worth the 30 or so minutes it takes to beat. Look forward to you next project!

Fun little game, for all that it is. Definitely shows the potential from the developers.

Quick review: Very promising and clearly full of a lot of passion and hard work. I think it is a very promising piece and displays a lot of competency in displaying the important pillars of game design. More detailed: Initial first impressions are very important, and I think the game has a decent start at that. 1 - The game is kinda performance heavy despite it's simplicity, my computer ran a little hot while playing, not a huge issue, but definitely something that could be improved upon. 2 - The main menu is professional and goofy at the same time. The sfx menu making sounds for the player to gauge volume on is a great idea I never considered. Bravo! The pause menu's flavor text as well is nice and helps add a cute layer of personality to the game in a small but appreciable way. And having the how to play always available, as well as listing the buttons on the screen for abilities is a very useful touch. 3 - The graphics are simple, but very striking. The game definitely makes intelligent and thoughtful use of what it puts in the level, and making it stand out or blend in depending on it's importance. "Metal Glove: Exodus" is a very mediocre 3D rendered 2D top down retro "dungeon crawler" (although the gameplay is really more of a weak ARPG). The graphics look a bit asset-flipped, the gameplay is janky and unpolished. This game fits squarely into the definition of "mediocre". This has some really mediocre looking graphics that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarly visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded.
