About Project G

The year is 2110 and humanity depends on secret marine farms for survival. Created by a philanthropic organisation through a century’s tireless work, the aquatic farms are under threat from predators emboldened by an ecosystem in chaos. Cybernetic fish-bots were created to keep this precious food source safe. Then it happened: a glitch? A hack? All you know is that the fish-bots turned from guardians to enemies. Now you stand between the human race and extinction.

In this retro-styled side-scrolling shooter, you pilot your sleek submarine through levels by using keyboard (CTRL to shoot and SPACE to deploy one of your special weapons) or gamepad. The future is a difficult place to find resources and you must earn credits and pick up materials as you conquer levels, then use them to upgrade your ship to match your playing style, or take control of a different model. Select one of three kinds of special weapons to take with you into each battle: depth charges, torpedoes, or nukes. Learn how the world came to this crisis as you collect log entries from those who lived through the decline of the planet, and by compiling them unlock the location of Earth’s final hope, the main research lab of Giga Corp.

\ as of today 17th June Multiplayer is now a feature. Using dual control pads you can share a screen and battle your way through all the levels.
Very repetitive, lack of variety and same music over and over again. Can it get worse? I don't know - I quit the game before that.
As a side scroller bullet hell, its game mechanics is simplistic. The most important flaw is the upgrade system. The ship moves too slowly and thus cannot hit most of the enemies. The developer claims it will improve as upgrades are purchased. But this makes it difficult to even enjoy as a casual game. I did not enjoy it and cannot recommend it.

https://youtu.be/ParXaa5SGCY After the world was flooded due to ?global warming? only a select few can pilot G ships to hunt and kill cyber fish in order to survive. Slowly earn supplies and credits to upgrade the woefully underpowered starter ship, grinding if necessary, to progress through wave after wave of underwater enemies. Level design is at a minimum with no environmental hazards while enemies are major bullet sponges until the player grinds for a few upgrades. This grinding degrades the experience by forcing players to replay sequences multiple times without offering any variety for their effort.

Project G is a side-scrolling shooter that casually recommends upgrading your current ship or just buying the next cheapest ship to progess through the levels better, collect more logs easier, and even gather more materials from a previous levels faster... Now, this may sound like a pitch to a mobile game concept or just what AAA wants to do nowadays, but you can buy crates of varying quality filled with random materials of different [rarity-]star levels with the in-game currency to upgrade your current ship to its maximum potential before moving on the better ship to upgrade... Gameplay-wise, the controls are simple to pick up and play, the UI can get a bit combersome if you're going from the shop section to the upgrade section specifcally, and the only bugs I've faced thus far were only in non-boss-related levels if they don't end like they would when replaying them... Story-wise, outside of collecting logs after starting from the beginning, only selecting a level gives any context to where in the narrative you are within said level... Otherwise, gameplay takes a higher precedence... Overall, the game's replayibilty-as-a-progression mechanic is what drove me to this game in th…

I like these old school shoot em up`s and would love to see more of them (Still hoping for Katakis 2:-) ). The graphics here are ok for me, the background is a bit simple but your concentration is almost all of the time on the moving enemies. What I don`t understand is what the different ships are for, that you can buy. I pimped my first submarine and finished the game fairly easy. Another ship I bought didn`t play any different, so what are they for? Not even the own shots are looking any different when you get power-ups!:-( Buy it, but maybe on a sale...

It's a decent game, has its charms, but nothing spectacular.
