About The Complex IV
The Complex IV is a role-playing game based on Dungeons & Dragons. Using a simplified subset of the SRD 5.1 ruleset, the game doesn't use aspects like class, race or gender. Instead, skills are used to determine what your character is good at. Characters can reach god-status at level 20.
Play on your own or with up to 5 other players online. Combine your skills or compete against each other - it's your choice.

Besides the fact that this game is obviously dead for any public games, is it any kind of substitute for another DnD game engine? No, the first turn I took was 16 seconds long to process. The second took 22 seconds. I was the only player in the game on the tutorial map. I'm guessing larger room sizes will severely hamper this game.2 found this helpful

"The Complex IV" is just so bad... using the D&D 5th ed SRD, the developers of this somehow managed to do worse than an RPG Maker asset flip, where you play as a drug capsule and fight waves of monsters because despite being based on an RPG system, the developers couldn't work out an RPG narrative or even a basic dungeon crawler... this is basically just a cut down version of D&D fights with no reason to want to do them. Is this a joke, or where the developers really serious in thinking this kind of thing would work out well through Steam Direct? The graphics aren't great... that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a deve…
