About The Safe Place

This is a deep social point&click adventure drama about tough childhood and self-sacrifice. The Safe Place is part of a trilogy from the developer of Little Kite and Repentant.

The plot of the game is built around an ordinary engineer Alexander, who lived in a post-Soviet city in the early 90's, just in the midst of the economic crisis, as well as a 12-year-old girl Christina with a difficult fate.

He killed a man by negligence. She was a witness. Fearing responsibility, Alexander hides all traces of his crime and persuades the girl to remain silent about what she saw. However, in turn, she asks Alexander to help her solve her own problems.
At first, this seems like a good deal to Alexander, but later on things went all wrong.

The gameplay consists of classic point&click adventure puzzles combined with dramatic plot twists that will send you on an emotional roller coaster ride from sympathy to hate.

Key Features:
  • Fully voice acted dialogues in English
  • Your dialogue choice influences the game plot
  • Beautiful hand-drawn visuals
  • Original quest designs of different complexity

Currently it is the longest and most complex project from Anate Studio. Very beautiful visuals, I enjoyed art style quite a lot. Puzzles, I'd say, 90% logical and only two times I was struggling to understand what to do :) Music is also great, supporting story during whole walkthrough. You can expect around 5-7 hours of gameplay. Be prepared for a really sad plot, you won't find here any positives. Game shows realistically a lot of post-soviet problems in previously occupied countries across a lot of aspects: everyday life, work problems, poverty, criminal activities, family problems, overall depressing times. One point for future improvement: manual save system. It can really add tons of bugs, so I totally understand decision to have only autosaves, for Anate Studio being basically a single developer. Thank you for this game and for full Ukrainian voice-over! Highly recommend if you like point&click games and dark, depressing, but real-life stories.

The Safe Place is a story-focused point-and-click adventure from Anate Studio that chooses emotional depth over spectacle. Set against the backdrop of a struggling post-Soviet city in the 1990s, the game presents a mature and often uncomfortable narrative about survival, guilt, and the difficult choices people make when pushed into desperate situations. Rather than relying on fantastical elements or high-stakes action, it grounds its drama in believable human conflicts, creating an experience that feels intimate, personal, and surprisingly powerful. The narrative centers on Alexander, a factory engineer whose life takes a disastrous turn after a tragic accident leaves a man dead. The only witness is Christina, a young girl burdened by her own troubled circumstances. Their first encounter is built on fear and secrecy, but what begins as an attempt to avoid responsibility gradually develops into a complicated relationship that becomes the heart of the story. The game explores how two damaged individuals from vastly different backgrounds influence one another while trying to navigate a world that offers little comfort or security. One of the game's greatest strengths is its willingn…

Touchy story, beautiful art. Entire story is depressive with no good ending. It's a type of the game when you feel a bit of a relief when it's over. It's not a bad thing. Life is not always a field of beautiful flowers. And stories like that reminds us to value every little thing we have. Bought all other games. All the best to the developers.
