About The Coroner Saga
Sara is a young doctor who just completed Med School with the highest degrees. Uncertain about her future she joins the Coroners' State Institute and the adventure begins!
Deep and engaging narration
Written by award winner writer JD Glass, author of American Library Association (Stonewall) and Lambda Literary Award (Literature) finalist Punk Like Me, Punk And Zen, Lambda Literary Award and Ben Franklin Award finalist Red Light, GCLS finalist American Goth, and the critically acclaimed X; selection editor (and contributor) of GCLS Award winning anthology Outsiders, listed on the Advocate’s Top 100 for CORE, Vol.1 Iss.1., the well-received First Blood, GCLS finalist Nocturnes, and the fan-awaited Glass Lions. Called by some the voice of a generation and the erotic philosopher by others, JD works in often familiar-seeming worlds, with people we know, people like ourselves, people we’d like to meet, and provides powerful stories that allow the reader to rejoice and wonder, stumble and fall, then rejoice victoriously again at the amazing experience of being human.

What Steam players say

Players are divided on this title. Fans of the developer's previous work "General Practitioner" appreciate the grounded storytelling and mature narrative themes, but those expecting an actual game rather than a visual novel with minimal player agency feel misled. The common complaint is that choices are largely illusory and the experience feels passive, with some episodes completable in just a few clicks, though a few appreciate the emotional, character-driven approach to the coroner premise.
If you're buying this as a fan of General Practitioner prepare for disappointment. This is much more like a visual novel, choices are very limited and, by Episode 3, some choices you make seem to be ignored anyway. Run in auto mode and you can clear Episode 3 in about 3 or 4 mouse clicks. I just feel like a passenger. Apologies for selecting "Don't recommend". My intention was not to tick either box but Steam doesn't allow that. The "No" is only because I was expecting a game more like GP and wouldn't have bought this otherwise.17 found this helpful
Its almost a visual novel, except your choices mean very little. I strongly recommend you not purchase this. It is a giant waste of time.11 found this helpful

The Coroner Saga begins with an intimate, grounded premise that immediately separates it from more sensationalist mystery visual novels. You step into the role of Sara Aveline Brennan, a freshly minted doctor searching for direction and stability after a complicated past. Her decision to join the Coroners’ State Institute is less about ambition and more about finding a place to belong—a theme that quietly shapes the entire experience. The job places her at the intersection of medicine, law enforcement, and human tragedy. Rather than glamorizing the profession, the game leans into the emotional burden of handling the dead, confronting grief, and piecing together the final moments of victims’ lives. This approach gives the narrative a mature tone from the beginning, emphasizing the human cost behind every case she accepts. The story unfolds across multiple episodes, each of which deepens Sara’s involvement with the Institute while broadening the overarching mystery surrounding her city. Every episode typically revolves around a particular case, beginning with a body on the table and unraveling outward through evidence, interviews, flashbacks, and moments of intuition. While the case…1 found this helpful
This "game" is unfortunately presented and marketed as a game when it is in fact a visual novel with some basic choices thrown in. The story is very average and choices make little or no difference to the outcome. If you are expecting to take an active role as a coroner you will be disappointed. If however you want a cheesy storyline and RSI from pressing enter a million times the you'll love this. A mediocre effort at best.1 found this helpful
