I think the hate for it is a little overblown. Although Hou+ may not be worth it at full price, if you're a higurashi fan, grab it when it's on discount! The concepts explored here are quite interesting, especially in the later half of the outbreak story. The bus stop part was also nice, as we explore the origin of higurashi, which is neat to see as a fan. In conclusion, pick this up if you're a big fan of higurashi and want to see the origins of the series and some extra shenanigans the gang get up to!

Besides bus stop all of these are actively bad, and even bus stop is just okay and only really worth reading if you're curious at the earliest stage of the story.

This is certainly not worth the price, even if you get it as part of the bundle. The only somewhat interesting arc is the bus stop one and only because you get to see an early version of the main story. The other ones are boring and lazily written.

Just awful. The first part of the outbreak chapter starts as interesting, but then devolves into some cheap action thriller that is poorly written. The other two stories are nothing to write home about either.

Unlike Rei, your only reason in wanting playing Hou+ would be through wanting to experience more of Higurashi's characters & setting after the highs of the main series. Hou+ completes this desire to varying degrees of satisfaction... Hinamizawa Bus Stop is arguably the best story, offering an insight into Ryuukishi's initial concepts for the series before fledging them out later. Outbreak is a compelling concept, but it definitely drags out & becomes incredibly contrived in its accompanying story later. Megahashi is... it exists... & I read it... but I'm not sure if I like the fact that I read it. LMAO The following Staff Room segments upon completing theHou+ stories are nice, though. While I'm grateful for the level of contextualisation they provide in expanding Higurashi's conceptualisation, not all of them are as insightful as they should be when they meander over seemingly useless topics for a majority of their segments. In essence, Hou+ shares the same quality as Rei in the sense that it will be what you make of it. It's definitely a game catered towards hardcore fans wanting to squeeze more out of this series, but at this point: I'm very much looking forward …
