A broken and poorly designed 3D Platformer. Leafing Home is a 3D platformer game about a squirrel trying to get back back to its family and get back a fruit stolen by a blue-footed booby. The squirrel needs to explore various locations, clean up rubbish, plant seeds, and help local birds along the way. The game has a cartoonish aesthetic, reminiscent of early 3D platformers such as Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, or Spyro the Dragon. The main gameplay consists of picking up rubbish and findng and planting seeds to advance in the game. In addition, NPCs give you quests in exchange for seeds, items, or cosmetic clothing. The game offers a number of minigames for variety. I did not enjoy my time with this game. It does not control well for a platformer, the jumping and gliding feel off, and there seem to be odd input delays. My biggest gripe with the game is its poor optimisation and numerous bugs and glitches. I played on a SteamDeck, and was unable to get a consistent 30fps framerate at a decent graphics setting... the same machine that can run Marvel's Spider-Man at 40 fps at a high graphics setting. This is just inexcusable for a game that looks like this. Even weirder is that…7 found this helpful
Dear game dev, Your game radiates with heart and love. I can tell that you are inspired by many childhood and collectathon games from your youth. This game gives me a certain sense of nostalgia as I play it. I only made it through the city area, but I have little to complain about. If someone happens to enjoy cozy, easygoing collectathon games OR they have a child that would like to play a game, this is a good one to go to. Certainly deserves more attention. It did get super stuck for a minute, though, and I had to restart. 7/10. Smoochies. Love, Lucius Light2 found this helpful
Really cute and fun game with a lot of potential! Unfortunately, I can't recommend it in its current state. It's quite buggy and needs more polish. The worst bug I encountered was at the Old Temple which prevented me from progressing any further in the game! So I never got to finish it. This is a known bug which was never patched :(1 found this helpful
It is a very enjoyable and positive experience. I loved the focus on nature preservation and that it was wrapped up nicely in a fun 3d platformer. I highly recommend it if you want a bit of fun, but don't expect a lot from it. Several achievements (as of writing this review) do not work and there are some minor bugs that make it difficult to play occasionally, however having played the whole game on Steam Deck on lowest graphical setting, it felt like an early days PS1 3d platformer which I adore. Definitely worth a purchase if you also enjoy that genre.1 found this helpful
Buggy, unpolished mess of a game. Got this super cheap on sale and thank god its not worth money do not buy. try a different cozy platformer this game was clearly given up on. The further in you get the more buggy it becomes. At a certain point the game doesn't even have English localization so when you get text screens you wont know what its saying unless you can read the language. The UI bugs out constantly where button prompts and other GUI elements get stuck on the screen and the only way to get them to go away is to restart. Achievements are bugged as well. overall cute idea with unacceptably bad execution.
Kinda fun, kinda the most broken cozy game i've ever played. Sadly a pass and a no from me.
