Lil’ Quests is a free sandbox adventure game set in the silly little village of Questia. We can take on different quests, help the townsfolk or make their problems much worse depending on what we feel like doing. The game is built around messing with objects and finding our own solutions, so there is not always one obvious way to finish a quest. The biggest strength is the freedom. Almost every object we find can be used in different ways, and the physics are clearly designed to encourage us to experiment. We can pick things up, move them around and combine different objects to see what happens. Some of the funniest moments come from trying something that probably should not work and somehow getting away with it. The quests themselves fit this idea quite well. Instead of simply following a marker and completing a basic objective, we can approach problems in different ways. The game encourages us to think about what tools we have available and how we can use the environment. That makes even fairly simple tasks more entertaining because we are involved in working out the solution. The local co op is another big part of the game.
