As a FFT:A fan I am extremely disappointed. The gameplay is literally just Slay the Spire. The addition of movement doesn't add anything to the gameplay because you only control a single character. There is no strategizing or team synergies. Just gradual random deck building and deciding what you do with your hand every turn. You discard your hand every turn so you can't think about what your next turn or two turns will be. Each individual battle is quite easy because you are meant to lose by being whittled down over the course of a run, until maybe you hit a boss. If you own Slay the Spire, I don't even see why you would play this. You might think "Hey, maybe there is some narrative going on to make it worth playing. Story. Characters." No. It starts out as a generic isekai for about 5 seconds and then you find out all the characters are basically "shopkeeper" and "tutorial giver" and have no personality and simply tell you game mechanics in a vaguely in-character way. You may like it if you don't like how difficult Slay the Spire is but still wish you could enjoy it.15 found this helpful
I have mixed feelings. It took me about 5 hours to beat the game on my first playthrough, and it wasn't very challenging. The first time you play, you are allowed either easy mode or normal mode, and I chose normal mode which was the hardest I had available. It was a kind of cute and amusing game- I wouldn't necessarily say its not a good game for the price, I just feel like I kinda coulda done without it. I don't really feel the need to spend anymore time in this game if its not going to be very challenging, or if the only way to make it challenging is to keep playing with the same loadout so I can try ascension mode, without getting to try the other characters. I've played so many roguelites like this that I kind of have a hard time recommending one I only really enjoyed for 5 hours, even if it was really affordable. I really am kind of on the fence as to whether I regret purchasing this for just under $10.00, as I kind of had fun, but I just know there are other games I could have gotten more meaningful time out of. I'd give a thumbs sideways if it were an option. If you're interested in playing it, maybe just go ahead and give it a try if its cheap enough. The art is nice I gue…12 found this helpful
As someone who loved FFTA i love this game. Fun, challenging, fair. not going to go into a big thing about it but im having a great time playing and i recommend it to anyone that likes turn based, deck builders or slay the spire type games.1 found this helpful
Cute for an evening or two, grab it on sale, but don't pay full price. References to Final Fantasy Tactics or even Into the Breach are implied ... yeah ... This is a fun project; "Surprised Pikachu Face" is literally mentioned in the dialogue. The RNG is all over the place, making it often times frustrating when you enter a board with a predestined defeat. I feel like trying to diminish my incapability instead of empowering myself. I love the concept. This could be something if the devs would take it seriously and not hide behind a wall of excuses and tropes.
nice crossover of roguelite & tactical RPG, a few UX issues and narration is on the light side, but otherwise the gameplay is solid for a few runs. Very good purchase for the asked price
A little short but good, wish there was more such as more subclasses, alternative level etc. Picked it up on sale & regular price isn't too bad anyways. Would recommend, it was fun
