Madcap Mosaic is a roguelike tile-drafting/deckbuilding game. It takes the cards out of your hand and puts them on the table. Your deck is now the board, and you move your avatar across the board using your tiles as you go. This drastically changes the gameplay and sets it apart from other games of the genre. Classic mechanics of the genre are warped or replaced entirely, and what's left is a game in a genre lots of us love that manages to find its own special niche.
A random selection from the 170+ unique tiles forms a tile Lattice each game. Rather than choosing from 3 random tiles each battle, you'll return to this Lattice and branch out to reach farther tiles. This is the drafting segment, and it is a mix of skill-tree, deckbuilding, and drafting. Seeing your options, determining your path, and knowing when to adapt is key! After selecting new tiles, you bring your Mosaic to the next battle and put it to the test.
Bolstered by 2 random traits each run (out of a pool of 80+), you'll need to come up with a plan and execute it if you want to survive the gauntlet of monsters.
There are many strategies to discover, experiment with, and push to their limits. A wide variety of unlockable tiles, traits, and aesthetic options reward your success, open up new strategies, and deepen others.

There are some criminally overlooked games on this platform and this is one of the most egregious. It's part of the silly but popular genre of deckbuilder roguelikes where you play mtg against a series of monsters. What sets it apart is that instead of a linear deck of cards, you have a 2D grid of tiles that you move over. Your "hand" is the adjacent tiles and you "draw" more by revealing new ones as you move. Going from 1D to 2D vastly increases your freedom of decision and allows for a ton of interesting mechanics and interactions not possible in a normal deckbuilder. Madcap Mosaic is an impressively inventive roguelike strategy game that reimagines traditional deckbuilding mechanics through a completely unique movement-based combat system. Developed and published by 1classydude, the game abandons familiar card-hand management in favor of a tactical grid called the Mosaic, where every tile represents attacks, defensive abilities, movement effects, or powerful combo mechanics. Instead of simply selecting cards from a hand each turn, players physically move across their grid to activate abilities in carefully planned sequences. This unusual design creates a combat system that feels part deckbuilder, part puzzle game, and part tactical strategy experience, resulting in one of the more original indie roguelikes released in recent years. The Mosaic mechanic is the core of the entire experience and easily its greatest strength. Every movement across the grid matters because the path players take determines which abilities activate and in what order. Offensive tiles trigger attacks, defensive spaces generate shields, and specialized tiles introduce more advanced effects capable of reshaping entire turns. I'm very much impressed by the gameplay. Tons of mosaics, lots of RNG and a challenging but often times rewarding experience.. Get this hidden gem if you can get over the graphics. I wanted to drop it but it keeps reeling me in. Tight game!
This is a fun, rewarding and deep ability synergizing game that's simple to play. Fat-packed with emergent gameplay options and unexpected synergies this is a very original and entertaining game.
Very smart and unique concept, love it. It is a bit rough but the gameplay is top. Every game you start with 2 random trait making every run different. The game is difficult and it really is a challenge to win a run but when you do it is very rewarding.
