This game scratches an itch for me like no other. It is set in a beautiful futuristic setting where a zombie apocalypse took place and really grasps the idea of being in a place that used to be the pinnacle of a utopia but slowly devolved once the infection took place. The storytelling is rich, the atmosphere is amazing, the gameplay is simple and addicting (kinda reminds me of 7 Days to Die), and the combat is not half bad. I've played this game since the early betas and remember how the crafting took shape from standalone parts, to harvesting furniture, to full release with just plain old scavenging. I have my gripes, but seeing as I finally 100%'ed the game. Here's my honest take: This game is for someone who wants to be alone, has patients, and likes to explore an abandoned world to scavenge. It is abandoned both in its setting but also by the developer. It is beautiful, but unfinished. The world is gorgeous and I need to find other games with this aesthetic. But it ends abruptly, and I long for more. Gameplay and menu's are nicely diegetic, the base building is simple but complete, and the upgrades are surprisingly varied. Give this game a shot when it's on sale, but be prep…2 found this helpful
This game was, until it was labeled "complete," something special. It is very much a textbook example of the negative sides of Early Access.1 found this helpful
This game was promising but slowly devolved into wasted potentional.1 found this helpful
I honestly bought this game in Early Access and waited for its full release. Granted the games full release was five years ago and I only now just tried to play it. I played about 2 hours worth when it was in Early Access and so was going to start fresh and play tonight. I quickly learned no matter what settings I use it taxes out my CPU and GPU and makes everything go hot. Now my computer is not a potato, I am rocking Nvidia 4080 Super with a AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The game runs smoothly but all of my temps become surprisingly hot when I run this game specifically. I really want to check it out but honestly its not worth letting my computer melt to play it. I kind of wish I could refund this because as long as the game is that taxing on my system I do not believe ill ever play it now.1 found this helpful
As much as I dislike Arkane Studios, this game helped me appreciate Prey. Not a lot, but a noticeable amount at least.
I don't recommend this. I really wanted to honestly, it had a good premise but they just kinda abandoned it...
