About Perception: Heart and Mind

"A unique action-adventure game where every reaction shapes a meaningful story." The green community of Rootbranch 12 is perched atop a mountain at an altitude of 3,110 meters, embraced intermittently by permanent misty clouds. It is built on a giant Oak tree! This small community has undergone significant changes recently. Often, the darker side of each resident prevails, making the entire situation go from bad to worse. The Oak tree grieves silently. Can you save Rootbranch 12? Can your positive energy and light dispel the shadows, or will malice prevail? This 2D side-scrolling game focuses on precision platforming, mental and physical combat, and perception-reaction choices.Physical attacks on robots with an upgradeable iron crowbar and mental attacks on shadows with the positive magnetic field that dominates the hero at that moment, that of the heart or the mind.Choose how you perceive the world, raise the corresponding perception, and earn points to improve your abilities.Innovative reaction system: It encourages players to react naturally—either from the heart or the mind—without revealing their response in advance. Essentially, it forces players to predict their reactions as in real life, along with the irreversible consequences that follow. This encourages guesswork and inference, prompting questions like, 'What is my heart telling me now? And what comes to my mind? Perhaps I need more time…’Features include an original soundtrack with 37 unique tracks with several handmade sounds, RPG elements, item collection and usage, unpredictable NPC behavior, different ways to progress, multi-direction combat, environmental puzzles, a day-night cycle, weapon upgrades, a philosophical story approach and multiple endings. Also there are 2 mini games, an addictive single and two player football and a slime ball game with 8 stages!

Players praise this indie game for its engaging blend of challenging platforming, combat, and meaningful choice mechanics, with a particularly strong emphasis on the satisfying puzzle-solving and emotional storytelling delivered through subtle details. I'm generally picky when it comes to choosing games but I have to admit that this grabbed my attention. When I bought the game, I wasn’t sure if it would have enough of the type action I like, but I found that it does, whether through combat or the challenging platforming. Challenging cause it uses a mechanism for the hero to latch onto ledges, which reminded me of Tomb Raider Anniversary (grab button/ stamina) (the controls are challenging but responsible). The heart/mind choose mechanism has also grabbed my attention right from the start! Sure i'll definitely have a more complete opinion, and I’ll come back to this review, if I manage to finish it...

I’m about halfway through the game so far.It requires good timing in your movements and thinking carefully before every decision you make. It’s definitely challenging at times, but solving a puzzle or finally clearing a level feels super satisfying. Quick advice: THINK TWICE before every move!!!

A perfect one-to-two-evening game. A bit of action, a bit of platforming, a bit of decision-making all in small, stylish amounts. Great pick when you want something light yet engaging

The story is simple, but I liked how the game delivers its emotions. Sometimes a tiny detail was enough to understand what the character feels. Didn’t expect it to be this subtle!

Beautiful, simple and heartfelt. Not a huge project, but clearly made with love. Animations, music and choices combine into a very pleasant experience
