About Starship Scarwolf
Features:
- This game has 2 game modes:
- Campaign Mode allows you to clear stages with individual scenarios, supporting ship switching, customise equipment, and progress saving to the savedata file. When resuming, you can continue the game from the beginning of the saved stage.
- Survival Mode is an arcade-like mode where you must continuously destroy asteroids to protect your allies. You can advance to the next Wave at fixed time intervals. While equipment changes are not possible, you can gradually enhance your ship by collecting items. Although progress cannot be saved in this mode, you can save data to add the money earned during gameplay to your Campaign mode credits.
- Supports keyboard and XInput gamepad controls. DirectInput gamepads and mouse are not supported.
- 3 difficulty levels and New Game+ mode (Campaign Mode only)
- More than 30 stages (@Campaign mode)
- Support for changing ships, weapons and equipment (Campaign Mode only)
- Detailed option settings (BGM volume can be changed, SFX can only be toggled on/off)
- Data save function
- Supports Steam Cloud & Steam Achievements
Controls:
Here are the main key operations used during gameplay. Note that key configurations can be changed except for directional controls (it is recommended to keep the Fire button at its default setting).- Left Analog Key/D-pad: Directional controls (2 types of settings are available, with 8-directional and left-right operations. Both types involve gradually turning in the direction of operation)
- Fire1-4: Weapon usage (In Campaign Mode, weapons can be arbitrarily assigned to each ship. Multiple weapons can be assigned to a single button)
- Boost: Ship speed acceleration
- Brake: Ship speed deceleration
- Stat: Toggle display of information panel on the right side of the screen
- Radar: Toggle radar display in the bottom right (change magnification, hide, radar performance depends on equipment)
- Pause: Enter pause screen during gameplay
Please Note:
- As this game runs single-threaded, CPU performance is very important. If you have your Windows power plan set to "Power Saver", request that you change it to "Balanced" or "High Performance" mode. You can make this change during gameplay without issues.
- Please try the full-screen mode for more stable rendering speed than the windowed mode.
- In Windows 11, the game may take a long time to start up. Please refer to the “FAQ” section of the thread for the solution.
What Steam players say

Players praise this arcade shooter for its faithful recreation of classic vector game aesthetics and straightforward, engaging gameplay that feels true to retro arcade design. However, reviews note frustration with cramped level layouts that make navigation difficult, and some criticism around the balance between resource management and mission difficulty. The game delivers solid old-school fun for players seeking that nostalgic arcade experience, though level design could be more accommodating to active gameplay.
A fun, simple arcade shooter, done in the style of old vector/raster arcade games like Tac/Scan or Asteroids. The main mode is campaign, where you embark on a series of missions with a win/lose state, the win usually being "Blow up the big red thing on the radar" and lose being "have the big green dot your ship launches from blow up". Gameplay is a simple topdown affair where you navigate a frequently cramped map by launching from a base and blowing up stuff for points and also added "incentive" or bonus points at the end of a mission. You move in all directions, it's not locked to horizontal or vertical. The points you get from missions can be spent on mid-mission resupply of shields and energy, your hitpoints. They can also be used to buy weapons, ammunition, ships, and docks for the ships. You start out in an outdated fighter with pea shooter blasters. It doesn't even have a slot for armor or remote control weapons, meaning you need to upgrade to a bigger ship if you want more weapons, tools, or upgrades. In the absence of actual money, you can take a loan which will result in your bonus pay being used to pay your debt, so you can experience financial destitution in video…2 found this helpful
