Summit of the Wolf is a poignant point-and-click narrative adventure presented in the visual style of graphic novels. Created by a two-person husband-and-wife indie development team, it features both fantasy and real-world segments.
After falling asleep in her warm bed one night, twelve-year-old Ophelia wakes up in an ethereal garden with no memory of how she got there. After speaking with a mysterious goddess named Adena, Ophelia sets out on a personal journey to find the fabled Summit of the Wolf, whereupon she must uncover the tragic real-world events that led to her arrival in this fantasy realm. Will Ophelia complete her quest, or will she succumb to the many dangers she must face along the way?
Meanwhile, in the real world, Ophelia lies comatose in the hospital, and a sympathetic nurse attempts to uncover the truth behind the tragic events that led to her life-threatening injury. Ophelia's parents insist that she fell down the stairs in the middle of the night...but can they be trusted, or are they hiding a dark secret?
At its core, Summit of the Wolf is a game about trauma and its psychological effect on children. Inspired by true events and written by a medical professional (and fellow survivor), Summit of the Wolf endeavors to shed light on the topic of child abuse by showcasing the emotions that are experienced by a young girl as she makes the transition from victim to survivor. While the game does not shy away from the darkness of the topic, the tone is ultimately positive and, hopefully, both inspiring and empowering.

While Summit of the Wolf is a standalone story and can be enjoyed in full without any prior knowledge of the series, it is also part of a larger, ongoing saga. Sometimes Places of Light are darker, than the Darkness itself. Sometimes the Feeling of Natural Protection, is an Illusion. Sometimes the safest place …….. is a lie. 3 Sentences i learned the Hard Way in my Childhood. 3 Sentences this Game is about. Welcome to the SUMMIT OF THE WOLF. As i got this Game from the Developer, thank you very much, i thought, what a nice looking Fantasy Adventure. Starting the Game i got a note that this Game includes strong content as Child emotional and sexual Abuse. (The Note is also on the Shopside, i didn`t read it, because i directly started the Game.) I stopped for a Minute, thinking of my own Childhood. Memories returned, but then i started. The Game started in a wonderfull Graphic Novel Style. A Story told by the Father of Ophelia, a 12 Year Old Child. Ophelia is the main Character of this Game and ready to go to bed. Falling asleep, she awakes as a Fairy in a Fantasy World. Fastly she found out that she had to find the Summit of the Wolf. And so her Journey begins …… in Two Worlds, because in the Real World she lies in a Bed, but no longer at home, no in a Hospital, in Coma. What happened? WOW. This is an extremely underrated game, at least presently. Everyone should play it - you will be pleasantly surprised. We are faced with some masterful storytelling here at its best, so thank you for that. I'm just glad stories like this one still get told as uncomfortable as they are to witness. I definitely did not expect what I got so a word of caution; this is not a kids game. Also, I wouldn't look at a visual novel tag as this is more of a point and click puzzle adventure. The characters are absolutely beautiful and different and the puzzles were a lot of fun. I'm all about poetic "Labyrinth" like riddles and zero hand holding so if you are too, here is a great game to get. As soon as I'm allowed I will be favoring this one for 2020. I suppose this one is kind of one step forward two steps back from the previous entry in the series, Stonewall Penitentiary. One of the things that edged that game up into the recommend category for me was that I thought the villain's backstory was a bit interesting. I'll try to discuss it without spoilers here (i'll even not use pronouns since the suspects include men and women in that game), the villain had been responsible for someone's death, but had been forgiven for it and since that time the villain had been consumed by an overwhelming guilt over event. To an extent, the villain perhaps might have thought that the punishment they were inflicting on the other characters was to their benefit. So, that they could be punished for their crimes. (Maybe. There were some lines found in the villain's dialogue that suggested that was maybe that was just a justification for the villain's actions and that really the villain just wanted to torture people. But maybe both things can be true. The villain is insane and has disordered thinking. That is all part of what make the villain interesting.) [h1]A EXTENDED REVIEW ([b]ENG/GER[/b])[/h1] [h3][u]Eng:[/u][/h3] At first I was very hesitating to get this game because of the art style but I got it recommended and gave it a try which I surely dont regret. It took me an hour to get used to it after which I really started to get into the story and enjoyed it. Still the non fluid camera movement made it for me sometimes hard to watch. But thats actually were all the negativity ends. Well for me atleast... the story has still a long way to go. I love how u have this 3 realities. The story she gets forced into by a wild beast while she is really just in a dream doing what its supossed to do and help her to process. And on the other side we have this very clear showcased disturbing reality. Its very noticable that its not our journey. We in the third perspectiv have the full extend while we only can watch and hope from scene to scene that she also will gain full concionous. And when the borders finally blurred I'm glad she decided differently from princess Ilo while I think it would be bad to judge any side on their decision as both deserve respect. This is the fifth game in a (planned) long series of story-centric games, all happening in the same world. The games are all perfectly playable on their own, but recognizing some of the references and character cameos adds an incredible amount to the enjoyment. There is an overarching plot starting to emerge, and I am so far convinced that there is also one very basic thematic connection between all of them, but I won't spoil that. The five games have very different stories, but all of them have a dark to very dark mood. The current one, Summit of the Wolf stands apart from the others. The first four games were pure fiction, while this one is based on a true story – it's almost like using the power of fairy tales for the therapeutic retelling of someone's (or, unfortunately, many people's) real-life experience. Perhaps because of that, this game has much more direct symbolism (hello, [spoiler]shriveled Burrower[/spoiler]. Also don't be fooled by the fairy-tale setting, this adult-only game gets very dark very fast. If you've liked the previous games from this developer, you will enjoy this game too - even if the fantasy elements are not something you like. For those who think they don't want to play some elf-fantasy nonsense I want to say this has a lot of "regular world" gameplay too. And the fantasy parts are surprisingly fun and engaging to play. I've loved every single game this developer has released on Steam and this is right on par with the quality of the others. 5/5 stuff.1 found this helpful
