The Night is Grey

I rarely leave negative reviews, as I'm a proponent of pointing out what worked instead of harping on what didn't but the visuals and trailer for this game made a lot of people assume it was about werewolves. Or some horrifying beast in the woods. It is neither. It is about an abused man who becomes abusive...unable to properly reconcile his misdeeds as he keeps losing his memory of it. The message of kindness in the credits is lost because of this. He wasn't healed, he didn't choose to do the right thing. He doesn't even know what he did, or if he does he won't say it, won't confess. Saccharine sentimentality does nothing without the hard choices, choices kept too vague to be meaningful. The heavy topics were also handled poorly, given so little detail it was more a game of wink and nudge and hope the message gets through, and the characterization was so heavy-handed it was irritating to be with this man so long. He wasn't interesting in his self-hatred as it didn't feel warranted, nor did anyone else's distaste of him. Deeply depressing but brilliant

Finished chapter 3. This game is awesome. I have to admit, first it was too slow for me. Then I let the pace of the game relax me and just enjoyed flowing through the story. It's not an easy game, but if you are totally stuck then there are walkthroughs. Highly recommend this amazing adventure game. If there is one thing I could wish for then it's voice acting. Wish they had the budget for that. They should have teamed up with Wadjet Eye Games for that.

Main character is a bit annoying, but otherwise it's a good P&C

I hate to leave a negative review especially for a genre with very limited releases, and a new developer at that, but I feel I must point it out. Firstly, yes the art and graphics look really good, and the sound production is very immersive. I'm less than 1 hour in, but I'm intrigued by the mystery in the story. Congratulations to the team for that. However, the game is frustratingly slow. I never skip cutscenes in a game, I always watch them carefully, but I have very little patience when I feel like a game unnecessarily wastes my time. And I feel it with this game, so much so I find it very hard to continue playing. Dialog scrolls frustratingly slowly and can't be skipped. The character walks slowly (eventhough you can skip to exit points, half the time you have to navigate within the scene and there is no run animation). The 'lag' with the dialogue happens also whenever you examine any object. This compounds when you have to examine everything (sometimes more than once, because you forget) to solve a puzzle.
