SYDE Rugby League Simulator is praised as an engaging and surprisingly deep rugby league management and simulation game that delivers solid gameplay despite its retro text-based interface. Players appreciate its free-to-play status, multiple modes including coaching and betting, and the ability to dive into detailed play-by-play breakdowns, with comparisons to classic 1980s text games. The main complaint is that the command prompt presentation feels dated and underutilizes modern PC capabilities, with some suggesting a web browser version would be more appropriate for the depth of simulation o

A delightful game that does exactly what it says on the box: simulates rugby league seasons. It's mostly text based but there is a lot of depth, with the ability to view each and every game play by play. The most interesting mode is where you coach one of the teams, the gameplay for which is pretty basic but still quite engaging.5 found this helpful
It's an extremely simple, yet effective Rugby League simulator. You are able to place bets, coach teams or just run through the games and see the biggest scores. It's a very fun game, and is reminiscent of the 1980's text-based games. All of this, completely for free. How good!4 found this helpful
SYDE Rugby League Simulator is a sports management/simulation game that has the novelty of being written for the command prompt, and that's how it runs. There's a stark contrast to the DOSBOX style visual representation of the game and the rich depth and complexity. This is probably the best Rugby simulator I've seen. The downside of course is that the game runs in a window, it's text only, and the whole thing could and would be better done in a web browser. If it was ad supported, the developers would get a lot of money for their time, too. I must stick to my general policy of not recommending games that don't make full use of the PC's capabilities. The developers made this completely free, which is entirely noble, and speaks to their integrity and service to the industry. While the text based quality of the game simply isn't enough for me to recommend, I hope the developers can shift this to a format where it can be properly monetised, or take their engine and combine it with a contemporary UI, because it's exceptional.4 found this helpful
Before I played SYDE Rugby League Simulator, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
3 found this helpful
