About The Way We All Go (2015)

It’s been two years since Atcchan, our protagonist, left his hometown; a small, sleepy village with a tiny population. Now he is finally able to return - but only for three days. How will his old friends react to him, and will their relationships be able to stand the test of time?

For a person who’s always been afraid of change, this is a worrying prospect for our hero… but it’s something he will have to overcome if he can ever hope to right his past wrongs. And a failure to do so can result in some rather unpleasant outcomes...

"This is a tale of misplaced love, a tale of a man searching for that misplaced love in all the wrong places, and how he gets his heart ripped out of his chest and stuck in his face so he can watch it slowly stop beating.” The Insane Clown Posse – Toxic Love So what do those lyrics have to do with the game (The way we all go).. Well maybe nothing, or maybe everything. It’s really hard to tell, I just think those lyrics go pretty hard, plus it’s the Insane Clown posse, as a 40+ year old man who lives on the fringes of society as an outcast, unloved, unwanted and treated like a POS, they were my go to band for many years, while I’ve only been to a single concert, I know that I’m truly a Juffalo.. errr a Juggalo.. Maybe some better lyrics would have come from Huey Lewis and the News and the power of love “The power of love is a curious thing, make one man weep and another man sing”. Anyway The Way we all go is sort of a visual novel about love.. The Story – You are Atcchan, a young man who was forced to leave his small town two years ago. Much like the Beverly Hillbillies he was moving on up to the east side and he finally got a piece of that pie… I think. Anyway Atcchan is…

The Way We All Go (2015), developed and published by ebi-hime, is a brief yet emotionally intense visual novel that prioritizes raw human vulnerability over traditional storytelling satisfaction. Rather than guiding players through a neatly structured narrative with clear resolutions, it presents a series of uncomfortable, intimate moments that revolve around flawed characters and the fragile connections between them. It’s not designed to entertain in a conventional sense—instead, it invites the player to sit with difficult emotions and observe how they unfold without interference. The story centers on a small group of individuals whose lives intersect through strained relationships and unresolved personal issues. Instead of building toward a dramatic climax, the narrative is composed of quiet, often unsettling interactions that reveal deeper layers of insecurity, dependence, and emotional instability. The writing feels grounded in realism, capturing the awkwardness and tension of conversations where people struggle to express themselves or unintentionally hurt one another. There is a deliberate lack of exaggeration, which makes the characters feel believable, even when their beha…

Too much text and the story was kinda dumb. Though the game has its charm overall. I'm very split on this one, but I'm giving it a negative review, because it feels like it was made by someone who doesn't understand Japan at all.

I'd probably personally prefer the ratio of creeping dread to slice of life to be balanced rather more towards the former, but the slice of life stuff does help you invest in the characters. It's been remade now, but I has a soft spot for the original.
