Analogue: A Hate Story

Reading games are worth it if the story is good.

The game is basically reading various diaries, letters and conversations from former residents of an abandoned "generation ship" and gradually finding out more and more about how life looked there and what happened to the ship. The logs were interesting and I was genuinely curious about those people's lives. The society created by the author is apparently based on certain real historical period and was very interesting as well (it's also the only game I've seen with "further reading" section). The game has some very serious themes and I liked that, but I feel like the "fanservice" endings don't really fit the theme? I mean, I guess I can understand why the devs would put this kind of thing in the game but it creates dissonance with the stuff you discover in the logs, especially the *Hyun-ae path. That aside, it's a great VN and definitely worth to buy on sale. Some people said the logs are hard to understand at first but the only thing that was hard for me was remembering the names for more than 3 seconds and that's a skill issue on my side. The greatest story ever told

A short and tragic tale with a pretty cool interface and just the right amount of tsundere

It's been years since I played this game and yet its story and characters live rent-free in my heart. Also the game's climax still scares the ♥♥♥♥ out of me so yep very effective endboss

Very moving.
