About World Alone: Dreampools
Description: "World Alone: Dreampools" is a single-player "Backrooms" experience focused on dreamlike liminal pools. The game features a narrative told through cinematic sequences and immersive environments. Feel the true essence of solitude in "World Alone"...
Story: You are a man named \, age \. One day, in your bathroom, you discover a supernaturally perfect tunnel that leads to another bathroom, one that never existed there before. Curious, you decide to explore and record the place. But before you realize it, you're trapped. The tunnel is now blocked by debris and concrete, and the door in this mysterious bathroom is locked.
Desperate and hopeless, you sit in the corner, unsure of what to do… until you hear the sound of a door opening. Could someone else be here? Terrified, yet curious, you decide to search for the door that opened, and whoever opened it.
But there's no one. Only the bathroom door, now open. As you step outside, you're met with what looks like a complex of homes with pools. Your goal now is to find a way out of this place.

Features and Concepts:
- Interactions with the environment, such as opening doors, interacting with buttons (switches, levers, etc.).
- VHS defines the game's visual style. Inspired by other Backrooms found footages, the visuals have a greenish tint, screen-wide noise, and blurred edges. These imperfections bring a sense of realism. The camera effects are based on both real VHS artifacts and more abstract effects.
- Dreampools is the main theme of the game, a vast pool complex that includes houses, bathrooms, megastructures, and more. Explore and record everything you find.

Little more than an hour for $2.99 of running around simple pool rooms and some backrooms. It's not bad, not great but it's good for the price I guess.9 found this helpful
Not bad but could you please add sensitivity and camera smoothing settings. Almost unplayable with camera smoothing tbh. Ruins the immersion. Nobody records video or moves their head all slow like that. Adding autosave also can't be that difficult at all. A JSON file should be good enough since it's such a small game. Probably only need to save XYZ coords. Genuinely the easiest type of game to make a save system for. I will turn this into a negative review if the new 2.0 update doesn't add these things.1 found this helpful
This is a short liminal walking sim, but in my opinion an excellent preview of what will be coming from this developer. Emphasis on short. Even for $3, I would have liked to have had a little more exploring. I made it to the pools and back and I am not sure there is an actual 'exit'. That being said, it was enjoyable exploring. It is mazelike, but doesn't leave you feeling trapped, somehow. The visuals are standard fare for the genre, but that means it does look really good. minimal options, and HW ray tracing is off by default. This could stand to benefit from some headbob on/off, and the doors sequences and intro sequence are a bit slow, and would be more immersive if they didn't take so long. The rooms feel actually designed, instead of the tired old 'yellow wallpaper block rooms', which to me is the tell that the developer enjoys the liminal space. Hopeful that this game gets a little more attention, and that Paradise Nowhere (same dev) continues to make nice progress, because these are excellent rooms.
Beautiful and visually stunning, but short. Please present more of your work. I thoroughly enjoy exploring and desire for more.
wish it was longer and the settings had more options like turning off head bob when i play a liminal game and i play alot its always so easy to get lost but with this game that never happened to progress i had to back track so i would stop ending back at the beginning that was very annoying i want every turn to be new in a liminal back rooms game and i dont want to keep track of where i am going getting lost is half the fun i hope you can add my suggestions in your next game but so far the graphics and enviornment is great maybe add some creepy music to make it a little tense but no MONSTERS PLEASE! I think entitys ruins a game a great liminal game can be scary without being chased. thank you
Wow, just wow. I got lost, I got found, I loved it! Something about the way the VHE filter was implimented really looked like a real camera. I liked how it softened the world. I'm a big fan of how the lighting was dynamic: every room looked so different depending on if you used the flashlight or not. The shadows were deep but not scary, just enough to realize there is no light there. The water sounded really good when I slide into it, and the blues were so deep and mesmerizing. 10/10 job here, can't wait for the next one!
