About Atomic Heist

Atomic Heist is a sci-fi roguelike twin-stick shooter. Control your combat ship and fight your way out of the overrun space station. The nuclear core you have to steal is leaking radiation, so you need to hurry and escape! Manage your ammo carefully and collect power-ups to enhance your ship. Discover the secrets of the space station and pull off the Atomic Heist.

Prologue

Yesterday we tracked the Rhaokyn battleship Kreegynn entering Bravo quadrant. They attacked and overtook the Hyperion-Six station, seizing the atomic impulse core. It is of utmost importance we do not let that core get to Rhaokyn hands. Your objective is to grab the core and get out before they can lock down the station.

Backstory

It has been nearly six years since the end of the Delotian wars. Our first war…our first contact, with an alien race. We thought the Delotians were coming to annihilate us. We later learned they were running away from the real threat. For eighteen generations the Delotians were hunted by the Rhaokyns. Everything they knew, everything they were had been lost or destroyed. The Delotians travelled through subspace to remote parts of the galaxy to hide from their hunters. Luck brought them to our backyard. They wanted help. They needed help. We didn't listen.

But that war is over. We are stitching together what threads of friendship we can. The Rhaokyns have found them again and now they have found us.
Atomic Heist
Atomic Heist is a hyperactive, challenging "one-more-try" top-down shoot'emup with a sleek and colorful retrofuture spaceship pilot driven style; During a massive long and grueling space age war between alien races, you're sent on a heist into an enemy capital ship to retrieve your stolen core. You break the core free from its imprisonment shattering the oppressive shackles and carry it to the exit and closer to freedom, but be wary of its health-sapping atomic radiation as you fight through the metal hordes to find the escape. Well, it won't actually be that easy as you'll be doing plenty of dying along the way and starting right at the beginning each time but with enough persistence and some sweet permanent upgrades you'll find the firepower you need to pull off the perfect Atomic Heist.
Gameplay
Atomic Heist has a simple premise; you carry your radiated core through each randomly generated layout of mechanical maze-like level while your slowly depleting shield and armor act as a sort of timer. Legions of metallic foes block your path in any number of formations and types, and eventually a plethora of powerful weapons slowly litters the battlefi…

Being a twin stick shooter, Atomic Heist is mechanically different from Pixelpunk XL. However, it seems to scratch the corridors-heavy, dungeon-crawling, rogue-like itch that I was left with. Each run generates a new maze-like map with nooks and pickups galore. The pickups often give your weapon minor stat increases: rate of fire, ammo, damage. But they may also give you a new ammo type or replenish your diminishing health (you’re carrying a stolen radiated core). The nooks aid the level and enemy design – you can use them to dodge projectiles but have to balance concerns once any ramming baddies find you and thrust you into the wall. This risk/reward design is ever-present in Atomic Heist. For instance, you sparingly get to choose a permanent powerups and each choice always has benefits and drawbacks. You can choose to increase damage output by 20% but it’ll result in fewer ammo drops. The amount of depth and variety to Atomic Heist has been really appealing thus far. Every run is surprising thanks to enemy weapons, powerup variety and an unforgiving timer that forces you to weigh exploration against level completion. Beyond that, there is a daily mode if you want to come back to…

Atomic Heist is a super addictive top down shooter game with rogue-lite elements. You must fight your way out of an enemy vessel whilst carrying it's stolen Nuclear Core which slowly irradiates your vessel. There is a ton of variety in enemies, ammo types, weapons and environmental hazards (some of which can be altered by you at control panels) as well as powerups and unlockable avatars. If your into rogue-lites and top down shooters then this is the game you have been looking for!
