"Yes, Phalanx of Resistance may not be the most gorgeous of games; yes, it may also not be the most polished... but for the incredibly low price of less than $1, the game is definitely markedly better than many other $1, or even more than $1, games that I've played before." Featuring nostalgic 90s-style graphics and art, Phalanx of Resistance is a pretty nice mixture of several genres, namely RTS, tower defense and surprisingly, clicker (I've removed "idle" from the "idle clicker" genre... and you'll see why in a bit). It takes the base building aspect from typical RTS games where you'll build certain structures to unlock new features, which sometimes means new turrets in this game.
Watch me play!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NagRllV3VEk You'll also need to build power plants to expand the "blue zone" or the zone where you can build stuff and gather resources; and to power up certain abandoned structures on the map like the repair depot which will automatically repair any damaged buildings at a steady pace. P/S: If there's a repair depot on your map, you'll want to power it as soon as you can... it's truly a lifesaver! Another strategy is to upgrade yo…9 found this helpful
At this early stage, it is the best A$1.50 I've spent for quite a while. I normally don't like base building and clicker aspects in my Tower Defense games, but in this instance I can make a Papal Dispensation. Unit combination and timing is of an essence. Have not yet noticed bugs of any consequence.4 found this helpful
its cheap so that makes it very good for the money but it gets boring quick. its basicly a TD with basebuilding. they need to add the more buildings and way to repair. I have a beast computer and by wave 50 or so i already had some major lag due to multiple towers attacking enemies3 found this helpful
I got this game from a free key drawing but I have to say the snes era graphics and sound design fit well, the game is well priced at $0.99, and you will definitely get your money's worth. Would I do out of my way to buy this game, sure 75% chance I would, for tower defense fans I would say at least check it out, I mean a buck is not much, just know it feels kinda chill, like an easy tower defense game (least from what I played). Kudos to the developer, a nice simple, well designed game at a fair price. I have come across a DANGEROUS bug. If you do Skirmish the game will continue to eat ram, I noticed the game was getting slower and slower. Will test and confirm later. If it is a bug then I will be changing my review from recommend to not recommend. Yeah definitely eats RAM Starting Memory Use 494,812 15 Min 2,168,9802 found this helpful
I thought, the game was malfunctioning. But after a restart it works fine. Might be helpful information for anyone trying it out like I did. The approach is nice, getting some resources from the trees, but it really plays slow and not really fun. Nah, not really... But, it just came out, so it might improve or it might not. But for now, I don't want to recommend this game. I am a campaign type of a guy, so I was expecting a story. Nope, no story. "Phalanx of Resistance" = nice title, but no story to strengthen it. Too bad... This game should be free to play in my opinion. But if you are a Tower Defense game fan/collector (like me) - you might wanna try it out, it's like 79 cents... But like I said, it should be free to play instead. The game however works and the maps are getting more difficult, if you want to waste some time and you have no idea what, this game might prove some difference. Minimum requirements... Ehm, it wasn't asking how much YOU have @Dev but how much you need to run this game and 16GB of RAM for this is a bit over the top don't you think? Might wanna chance that... I could run it just fine with my measy 8GB of RAM.2 found this helpful
Phalanx of Resistance is a Unity based retro pixel isometric RTS game that looks an awful lot like some other Unity based retro pixel isometric RTS games I've had the misfortune of having to review. However, I couldn't find a matching asset in the store, so let's go ahead and assume this isn't a Unity asset flip. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. …1 found this helpful
