Sanctum

Can't recommend. Movement feels clunky. Towers are either bugged or totally unbalanced, some do literally no damage at all, which leads to you placing the same 3-4 tower setup over and over again regardless of which map you choose or which enemies you face. Enemy variety is pretty slim. Guns feel underwhelming and are also pretty unbalanced as well.

Actually a really fun mix of FPS and tower defense. I like how the game doesn’t just make you build towers and watch everything happen. You still have to get into the fight yourself, shoot enemies, defend the core and work together with your defenses. It makes the gameplay feel much more active than a normal tower defense game. For me, this game is definitely at its best in multiplayer. Coordinating where to build, covering different lanes and fighting the waves together makes the whole experience much more enjoyable. If you have a few friends who are willing to play with you, I would strongly recommend giving it a try. My only real wish is that there were more players still active today, because this is the kind of game that really shines when played with other people. Still a very fun game, especially if you can get a group together.

How to put this. It seems like the game is an alpha version of Sanctum 2. I dont feel like playing this one over the second one in any situation. Thats IMO anw.

Played Sanctum 2 first, then Super Sanctum TD after, and then finally Sanctum. Still currently playing it as I'm writing this review, but it's a pretty good game. The idea of a hybrid game between an FPS and TD is really cool and unique. It does have a few bugs, (I haven't experienced any bugs so far, but from other reviews, and also because this game is 15 years old, I would assume there is quite a few of them.) The graphics are good, gameplay is quite nice, and the soundtracks, along with the design of the characters, maps, and towers are really good.

A good game! Sanctum is a combination between a tower defence game and a first person shooter title, set in a colourful neon futuristic alien setting. The gameplay loop of defeating hordes of enemies between preparing and building new defensive lines works and it can definitely keep players hooked for hours. Being a bit of an oldie, the title can run on pretty much anything, with still dignified graphics. The game is fairly simplistic, but it is quite fun to play. It has been ages since I last played Sanctum, but I do have very good memories of the game.

I wish I had more time to play this one, it's a solid tower defense game. The fps aspect is also a refreshing change of pace.
