Phantom Brave PC

Such an incredible game. I've never played anything quite like it. The gameplay is some of the most in-depth and thought-provoking that I've ever experienced. The story is very touching and heartfelt with great set-up and pay-off, mundane introductions serve the plot even when you think what's being shown won't be relevant in the moment. The characters, especially Marona and Ash, are very charming and sincere. The dynamic between the two made me smile throughout the entire game. The game's combat system is extremely dense with intricacies and customization that felt a bit daunting when I jumped in blind - but once the story hooked me I did everything I could to brute force my way into understanding all of it. I'm so glad I did, because I don't think there's any other game out there like Phantom Brave. I loved every minute of the game. The story, the characters, the gameplay - all of it. It's a really special game. If you're looking for a heartfelt and extremely tactical SRPG to play, I would recommend giving this one a shot. The game doesn't do a great job at explaining every system mechanic to you, but I don't think that should be a reason to not experience it for yourself. …

Loved this game on PS and am really happy to play the adaptation. I'm honestly not that great at it but I mostly enjoy going in the dungeons and playing with my favorite spirits!

I really enjoy Phantom Brave. This is a remake of the PS2 version, and while it seems simple at first, it can become extremely detailed through 'failure fusions', collecting dungeon boss items, and combining skills. It is similar to the Disgaea franchise, but the movement system feels much more natural to me (even slippery ground). Instead of moving on specific squares, you can move freely within a set range. The speed stat also matters a lot, since it can let you act multiple times before an enemy gets a turn. The best part is the story, (its a feel good story) The worst part, for me, is that dungeons do not show the total number of floors while you are inside them. For example, if you are on floor 39 of 45, the game only says “floor 39” instead of '39/45' Overall, I would recommend it to fans of strategy RPGs, especially people who like Disgaea but want a different kind of movement system and a stronger focus on story. Game is fire. True disgea fans know this is THE game after the first disgea. Game is grindy. I remember getting to lvl 7000 on the psp but I honestly got no idea how I did that after replaying it. Still game is very strategy based. Here are some hints for beginners. Use the starfish weapon. The green ghost npc clearly states speed is king. The starfish provides an aoe as its basic attack. All its attacks are based on speed, and it has long range skills that hit hard. Make a map with fish and steal a lvl 20 starfish or a couple. This might require a few resets. After this lvl up the starfish and when you reach its level(20) you hunt for a lvl 40 starfish. Rinse and repeat. After you get to lvl 80 or 100 using the strategy the game starts to open up. Always aim to steal weapons 40 levels higher and dont get attached to low lvl weapons. You can use any npc you like even monsters since they can hold weapons. Affinity to elements is extremely important. Always abuse elements it can make the difference between double damage or 0. Starfish is great because it trains you the red thunder sigil.
